Description In a way not entirely make a fursuit head, but I did make some points in amongst the hot air hahaha. Pretty much a sarcastic way to show a walk through of the maned wolf's head. There was a point in which I was trimming and had my foot slip (knee holding the head) and gouged the fur. Repair attempts 1 and 2 failed miserably so after taking a step back I removed and sewn in an entirely new panel.

Btw, don't go hacking the ears off of your neighbors dog. One, the dog or the owner won't like that and two, blood and the smell of dog is just so hard to get out of fake fur it's not worth it. Just stick with fake materials, they'll last longer and smell nicer!

Do you sew the fabric by hand or with a mashine?
I make a mask right now but I'm so afraid of furrying it. I don't own a mashine so what kind of sewing technique do you recomment?

You can use a sewing machine or sew by hand. I recommend an older sewing machine (1980’s and older).

My neighbors don't have a dog, I have a cat. Will that do? Or is it only dog ears that work?

I suppose if you must, they'll just be a bit small!

It delivers the idea how you work. So it's not a totally super-bad sarcastic tutorial

Hmm. But my neighbor's dogs ears are just so cute...
Really, Google makes making a suit much easier. My internet was cut off when I made my first head, but all of the stuff Id learned beforehand ON GOOGLE helped. This is what my first head looks like! [link] All thanks to research and planning. I don't mind helping someone if they have a question, but when they ask "HOW I MAKE FURSUIT!?" I get annoyed and point them to Google.

This incredibly hilarious sharpe, I so wish i had thought to do something like this, haha. But it is sad, I have learned the hard way about people wanting to be told information that can be found easily through google. I have no more patience for it...

Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance?

There is an awful lot of stuff out there for those willing to Google and sift through topics and such. You'd think people looking into undertaking the hours of planning, sculpting and sewing that's required for making a head would be wanting to plan and research as thoroughly as possible...particularly with the cost involved. 0_o

One would think but sadly not many do. When one actually does though, it really shows.

I lol'd it's amazing how all the kiddos in the fandom want the really good suitmakers to churn out hold your hand step by step walkthroughs. Completely forgetting that a good portion of the time that most suitmakers this is their only source of income, they want people to buy from them, making an in depth tutorial takes away business.

And then vicious cycle starts; tutorial made, kids start making suits, make one suit and open commissions, people get their suits and they are unhappy about sub par work. Then that customer figures they can do better... Find a tutorial.... Cycle goes on and on.

But honestly, love the tutorial, helps me understand the shaping of the fur before fluffing the base.

Or it's one of those "They buy a really cheap partial/full, think it's top quality and throw a baww fest when given prices of actual quality pieces." That's the one that irks me the most. But yes, the whole 'make a suit, open commissions' is really not amusing. So many eager children wanting to enslave their time, social life, and effort into other people comfort at such a young age.

I'm actually 12 and I'm trying to put good time into the partials I make. That's all I love to do. I know the first one I made isn't great, but the next one I'm making is actually going to have more time and dedication put into it to look right, and I hope it looks better than my last one XD

Oh yes, them too. It's like the taxikids. Haha.

I do want a suit from you someday soon you make me enjoy suits but I want to pick an OC to have you do haha. I used to be a "buy cheap" kid, but it finally soaked in you get what you pay for after I got my first uhm... Taxiderpy piece. (And now I can't stop buying the expensive plushies from people who are professionals haha and sometime soon a suit.)

(by the way is your policy on payment plans located on your FAQ?)

Sweet! I'll be sure to look into which one of my OCs I would like first (I'd probably start getting the ball rolling later next year. I would do it after taxes but I have to finish up college.)

lol this is epic. one thing i wish is that somebody who is good a suitmaking would make a video explaining and thoroughly showing how to make a foam base. that is what is lacking in the fandom. at least theres not too many good ones on youtube.

Azureran In reply to DragonGames [2012-12-16 07:56:57 +0000 UTC]

I learnt from a variety on youtube. There are some very good ones if you can be bothered to go digging, I don't think it's lacking at all. Have you seen Matrices site?

yes i looked at matrices tutorial but i really dont like that method. the head always winds up being too uge, and im looking for a slimfit tutorial, kind of the way sharpe does hers.
