Description My latest obsession. I have been reading the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. It is a paranormal/horror/romance series that features MacKayla Lane as the the main character and narrator. She is a sidhe-seer and has pretty much had her world turned upside down after learning about it. This series in not intended for children, due to some very mature content.

This drawing is based off of a scene in the second book Bloodfever. She suddenly wakes up to find all the lights, other than her room, in the bookstore she is living in completely turned off, which keeps some very unsettling creatures, known as shades by her, normally out.

I hope you enjoy my rendition of the MacKayla Lane and the scene.

Hi, I like the picture! The shading is great and I like the detail on her clothes! I would say if you tilted the flashlight just a little bit so we could see her hand it might read a little better. I hope you do more scenes from the book!

Thank you! I have to admit. I'm not the best hand drawer in the world. Whenever I can minimize that area, I tend to do it. Thanks for the critiques. I always appreciate constructive criticism. I'll try to draw more scenes, but I have a feeling that drawing some of the other Unseelie or even Seelie from the book will be exceedingly difficult, especially the Hunters and what MacKayla calls the Rhino boys.

Yeah, but it's by drawing the tough stuff that we get better! Nice job on the hand, it gives a lot more depth to the picture. One of my teachers said that the reason people don't like drawing hands is because there's so much to do getting the hand right, it's like drawing the whole body but smaller (if that makes sense). And remember, when you're drawing you've got reference right there on your other arm. Nice work!

Thank you so much. I also had a melt down on this picture when I changed it up. I came very close to just tearing it out of my sketch book in fury and frustration, but you're absolutely right, if you don't challenge yourself, you'll never improve. Hopefully, this is an improvement.

Yes. There are so many joints and intricate details that it's enough to drive a person nuts. I look back on all my older drawings and laugh at how bad the hands are. I've only just started to get to where my people have realistic looking hands.
