Link Down, Do you still have the model?, if so, please can you share a new link? :3

I feel lazy to work on those textures, I just use the masks to recolor them ahah. I am working on the third alt costume for Cole and an outfit for Dorian. I am also resculpting the basic heads to re-create my Inquisitors, more or less. Already finished my male Trevelyan... not identical, but still something.

I can get a similar appearance, but making them look 100% like the original morphed Inquisitors is pretty much impossible. In the game, you can alter the eyes and the ears, increasing their size and changing the shape... thing that you can't really with blender (especially on the eyes). I would need to alter the head quite a lot and the original rig would probably break ahah. Still, I can use the bones in XPS to modify things that in blender are a bit too tricky. I hope we will be able to get our Inquisitors just like Shepard in ME3...

I tried hand sculpting in Blender and it didn't work. Hopefully headmorphs will be usable soon.. The only thing is, I made most of my Inquisitors on the PS4. So I'd have to remake them on PC and I probably wouldn't be able to remake them perfectly. >.<

I know that feeling... I had created an awesome male Inquisitor on Ps3 for my second playthrough, but then the console broke and I am still waiting for it after two months. I got the game for PC and tried to remake him, even if I'm used to him now and I like how he looks, he definitely isn't like the one I made on Ps3... which is a pity. But anyway, I am also happy about the resculpted version ahah.

I want to remake my favorite Lavellan, Seren. She's the cutest, I'm just worried I won't be able to remake her perfectly. She was so perfect the first time I made her, haha.

I think they should've put facecodes like in ME3... that way you could simply copy it from the PS4 version and get the same head on PC :\

Same, but the facecodes would be extremely long since you can tweak the models so much. It would be a good idea, though. I hope Mass Effect 4 has the same character customization as DAI.

You just have to save it as txt file and toss it into the XPS folder. The file name is "bonedict".
As soon as you open a model in XPS with the "add model" option, it renames all bones by itself.
The model must be saved with the "save generic item" option (right top corner of XPS) et voilΓ , you have a model with the same bone structure most DAI humanoids have!
After renaming bones of all the models you wanted to rename, I recommend to put the script into another folder, or else it tries to rename everything again.

I agree! I've made amazing poses on one model come to find I couldn't use it on another. (so heartbreaking) It's very helpful that poses can be interchangeable.Β Β

Yeah! I chose Cory cos no one else ported him. Everyone else is getting their hands in porting the main party characters. It was half to be different and half to avoid people thinking I was copying others. I've already seen comments on some people's post accusing them of copying cos someone else uploaded a different outfit of the same model.Β Β Also I ported him for personal use and was really proud of how well I did, so I thought I would upload him.

He looks really good indeed! Are you new to extraction? Was it very difficult? When I first discussed DAI models, everyone went: Oh Maker, it is incredibly hard!
Are there other "minor" characters on your list?

Where did you learn extraction? I haven't found much on the internet, to be honest. What do you do differently than other porters? The boneweight fix sounds complicated, too. Everyone who ported DAI models had to do that? Holy Maker.
Oh! I had a similar idea, but my meshmodding is quite limited. I also only wanted to probably make 5 or 6 models in total. Leliana's hood reminds me so much of the Quarians... And she is a spy, Tali a hacker... You know what I mean. What keeps you from considering to make them public? Woah, and hell yeah @ the modding tool. I would love to see the chargers and Celene and Briala really badly...

I pretty much learned from trial and error and asking around. It's hard to find a complete tutorial so it's just easier to ask people, most of the time they are more than happy to help! My work flow is different cos I use 3DS Max first then Blender to fix meshes and bones. Most people do it all in Blender 2.49 but I find it easier to work in 3DS Max even though it adds on an extra step. Fixing the bone weights isn't hard at all, you just load the Generic_Item into Blender select the bone and then the corresponding mesh and paint it based on how much you want the mesh move when the bone is manipulated. It sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is. And yes everyone that ports the models have to fix the weights.
What do you mean by limited? Do you mean mesh parts?Β
It's funny you bring up Leliana and Quarians cos my crossover of her she is in a modified version of Tali's armor!
Some of the parts of the models are not made by me, I would feel bad distributing part of a model someone else worked on. And I'd only upload the models if I was given permission by the original porter of the mesh. But I'd still feel weird since I only did part of the work.

I was under the impression there aren't that many people to ask to begin with, actually. But I don't know how many hidden talents are actually around on here. From your explanation I am getting that you can't port models like another porter since you need to know how much they made all the meshes move, right? That's kind of unfortunate, since it means you can only reload poses of models that were made by one particular porter.
Ah no, by limited I mean that I only mod in XPS for now, but I'll conquer Blender sooner or later, I am determined.
Hah! Great! I'd like to see that since it was my top choice, too. Bioware crossovers are one of my weaknesses and I really wish I could mod a little better than I do now, so I could execute the ideas I wrote down so long ago. I'd put Commander Cullen in the Commander Shepard armor, by the way, but I think this is a popular headcanon already.
Ah how about just asking the people who ported the other parts? That's what I would do.

Anyone that posts models here will be willing to help. And no! Maybe my explanation was confusing but everyone pretty much ports models the same way. All of the models are extracted(from the game) Β into the PSK format which is the mesh with a skeleton and then those files are imported into Blender or 3DS Max and then they are exported into the Generic_Item format(by a script). All models are the same but some people make them differently.
When I started mesh modding I stuck with XPS but then realized I was limited. Learning Blender can be difficult, but when you do learn it you'll realize you can do so much more.
And for me Cullen is in Shepard's armor but it isn't the N7 Armor, Its something else I don't remember the name of. Haha.Β
I always do ask, but I still feel weird about using other people's stuff, especially redistributing. I'm afraid people will accuse me of stealing when it isn't the case. I'm just trying not to step on toes.Β Β

You could definitely ask me! I'd be more than happy to help where I can.
Weight paints can't be reused since its data that pertains only to the bones in the model. But it's not hard at all to weight paint something.
Blender seems really hard to use but it's more that its intimidating. Once you take a second to look at the User Interface and figure out what you're working with it's not hard at all. You just have to have patience, and be stubborn enough not to give up when something doesn't work the first time. Haha.
To this day I am still learning new things about Blender, whether it's rendering or simply fixing models. But, it took me a couple weeks (maybe a month) to learn everything I needed to know to port models, and took a few days to learn how to make renders.
Exactly. I've asked people if it was okay to use their models and they said there was no reason for me to message them. So that made me feel bad but I didn't was to post something and then get attacked cos I didn't ask. It's kinda that damned if you do damned if you don't.
