Proof that the Scots-Irish connection with the folklore of the old country didn't perish when it reached the Appalachians. Instead it settled down in the holler with the people and adapted to new ways and forms. And then along came a man with a silver-stringed guitar, to make sure the creatures of the new folklore kept to their place and didn't bother decent people.
