Description Malignant sea god from the Cthulhu mythos. It's not too late yet! Repent and join his cult today (and you'll get a free set of blasphemus fridge magnets)!!

This is a latex mask that started off as a sculpture in Chavant clay. It's painted with a mix of ProsAide glue and acrylic paint, and detailed with acrylic airbrush paints. The plaster mold for this thing is huge and weighs almost 10 kilos.

I'a, Dagon-

The first Lovecraft story I ever read, and- at least, I believe- what would eventually become Cthulhu.

It's one of my favorite Lovecraft stories. Nice interpretation- although I tend to see something more... well, tentacled. *shrug* I'd love to see Dagon turned into a movie of sorts, even if it was just a high quality flash, or something.

I'd love to see that full suit as well! Let's see what happens during 2012.

Does this thing sneak out in the night and eat babies? Because if any of the neighborhood kids are missing, I would bet it would be from this....

Ia, ia, ia Dagon! Ia, ia, ia R'lyeh!

The detail on this peice is wonderous. He looks creepy and sea-beast like, without being cliche.

Blasphemous fridge magnets, huh? Meself, I'd find the dishy High Priestessess (like in the movie) more of a reason, but to each thier own.

I think those dishy high priestesses might be an after construction by other fellows. Lovecraft's interests usually did not include babes. But I'm sure he'd go for the fridge magnets.

Yeah, H.P. was a bit of a prude.

Did they have fridge magnets when H.P. was ticking?

Loneanimator In reply to Kieranfoy [2009-03-19 14:32:37 +0000 UTC]

Well, H.P. was a strange mixture of being both backwards and ahead of his time, so the fridge magnets may not be appropriately anachronistic.

Wow! There's an incredible amount of detail! this is a mask?
I never really thought of Dagon as a large Deep One, though. I always pictured a horrible abomination of many limbs and tentacles and teeth.

Loneanimator In reply to Phaeda [2008-12-01 06:11:37 +0000 UTC]

Yep, it's a mask and hopefully I'll be able to make the rest of him as a suit. I think my concept of Dagon may have been influenced a bit by the "Call of Cthulhu" game. And I wanted him to be a bit different than Cthulhu, who is instantly recognizable with his tentacled face.
