Those kids should have gone on to write for Doctor Who.

I can definitely understand the fear this brought, just based on what you can see on Google images
I definitely prefer this interpretation

The still mysterious Phantom of Flatwoods. One of the all-time great monsters of Ufology.

If you're ever interested in seeing it, there's a company called Small-Town Monsters that made a brief documentary about it. I own it and it's pretty good.
They've also covered Momo (which I have yet to see), the Beast of Bray Road, and Mothman among others. You can buy DVDs from them or rent their films online.

I'm very familiar with their output, and I really like their films. It's probably the best ones on the subject out there.

My drawing is based on the sketch that the mom made. If this was her sincere impression, what the hell did they actually see in the woods that night??

I have no idea, but itβs literally all you see in Flatwoods (and the surrounding towns). Thatβs the only βtourist attractionβ Braxton County has. Lol π

It's still a very powerful UFO/Monster encounter story.

What I like about it is that it's so unique it's hard for me to believe anybody just made it up on the spot

I'm not subscribing to the "owl in the tree" theory. It's not at all what the group of people who had this experience described. Though they had conflicting stories, they talk about nothing like an owl!

You , know it's weird that you say that, cause thers a lot of encounter stories where an owl was mentioned ,as in people recall seeing one sometime in there encounter before or after,

I think the same sort of creature was sighted in another W.Va. case. In that incident, the 'monster' touched a car's paint and left a burn mark!
