Sorry for the extremely late reply... Yes i did them traditionally on my handy sketchbook with blue pencil, and finish up in Photoshop for minor presentation touches.

I think he did the basic concept design method. Blue pencil or pen for early sketch. Scan. The digital coloring.

i LOVE the "E" design, not for the character that Tahm Kench has, but it is a very very neat concept
