Dedicated to my dear friend Edie (1001G) [link] She is incredibly talented when it comes to photographing flowers and making them more beautiful than Mother Nature could. Not just flowers either, but most anything she points her camera at. I can only hope that she will enjoy this image as much as I do hers!

Shot at Crystal Springs Rhododendron Gardens, this is the little lagoon area near the entrance. Many of the Rhodies were blooming as well as what I believe to be a flowering Cherry tree (but I could be wrong about the species) and many many smaller wildflowers. This is one of the most serene and peaceful settings in the Portland area and one of my favorite spots to shoot. Off in the background, under the flowering Cherry, you can see the rock wall with it's 'hanging garden'.

It's funny, this is a full color shot and I'm aware that other than the red blooming Rhododendron and some of the other trees, including the Weeping Willow on the left (which is an absolutely magnificent tree all by itself) this almost looks like black and white with selective coloring but it's just an optical illusion I guess. It really is full color. If you're in the area and never been there before, I highly suggest a trip there whenever you can...you won't regret it.
