All my swords are of weapon grade carbon steel and hand forged with proper blade geometry so that it is light enough to actually use while still having substantial mass to make the cut.

Comes down to what you're looking for. I make swords for people who want quality pieces that would be considered usable even back in the day. If you want a showpiece, then historical function/purpose doesn't really matter; just has to look good.
