Description Inspector Blakey from the series of paintings for the upcoming On the Buses DVD box set. Painted in the same manner as the 'Arthur' piece, though the pencils were much more detailed on this one.

Dear Loopy:

This is Indy. Greetings for 2016, mate!!!

Oh, does this bring back memories!!!! Stan's mum was trying to keep things together whilst Arthur and Olive had their disagreements. Jack and Stan chatting up the birds--good times; good times!!! I love British comedies--all the way from Doctor in the House all the way to As Time Goes By.

Excellent take on a bloke who was always three steps behind his best driver.

Thanks for the memories!!!!

                                                                                                          Cheers always,

                                                                                                           Indy.

Dear Dave:

This is Indy. Greetings!!!

I remember watching all those British comedies, from "On the Buses" to " Doctor in the House." If there's a country that knows how to make the world laugh, it's Great Britain.  I remember watching Blackadder (Rowan Atkinson) and remembering that Hugh Laurie (House) played a slightly dim witted Prince of Wales. He even came complete with the big white powdered wig.

Would you believe that Stephen Lewis (Blakey) is still alive? Check out a quaint little British comedy called, "Last of the Summer Wine." He still plays the same imposed upon fellow that he played in "On the Buses."

Thank you kindly for the compliment!!!! Your piece on Blakey brought back memories of me being in the basement and laughing my head off! Those were good times--good times.

                                                                                                                                           Cheers always,

                                                                                                                                           Indy.

Dave, fantastic work. They really bring a smile to my face. Could you give me an idea & of course if you were interested of how much roughly it would cost to illustrate a new face (from a photo) onto say Blakey or Reg's body. We have a customer we are doing a promotion for back here in the UK and would love to produce a full size cardboard cut out for the client with his head on, one of their bodies

fucking classic show man, Stan's sister Olive was my favourite. I know loads of women like her ha ha, every sitcom these days is too self righteous and you never see good old fashioned crumpet on tv anymore, not enough mini skirts and go go boots for my liking. On the Buses was like a Carry On spin-off, you did an amazing job on the 3 portraits man...you most definitely have "the skills to pay the bills"

Thanks man! It was for a collectors box set of the series, which just (finally!) hit the stores - may post a photo of it soon. Real happy how the whole thing turned out and what they did with my artwork - they even used the characters and my paintings of the buses on the DVD menu screens!

there's some episodes on youTube too. BTW are you a Benny Hill fan? I loved that show, I watched it when I was 4 or 5 in the 80s, but was too young to understand a lot of the humour then, and it got cancelled in 1989, but my grandad taped a lot the episodes for me.

Thanks!! and yes, it WAS a lot of fun doing them. Funny thing is I'd never heard of the show either, until I got the job , but spent quite a few hours just watching episodes to get the hang of how the characters behaved and what their signature expressions/poses were.

There was a show I used to watch about 15 years back called "are you being served?" and it had a really interesting cast of English actors on it as well. They worked in a department store and it was just classic British humour.
