What a beautiful drawing! It's very cute (the wide-eyed stare it's got going on is adorable), but still looks serene somehow and almost alien. I really, really love your linework, it's so crisp and clean! the varied thicknesses keep the fins distinct from one another but allow them to build up in elegant layers. I am also impressed that even with all the crease lines on the fins, it doesn't look crowded or too busy, they compliment the natural 's' shape without looking forced. I'd love to see some color on this! Great work, keep it up.

It's interesting to see peoples views of what a Mermaid would look like, I would also imagine them not looking 100% a Human too. More more like what you have drawn here.

I like the varying line weights on the edges. I'd like to see thinner line used for the inside of the fins. When you color, they will suddenly become much heavier. Plus if they are too thin, you can always go back without worrying about realizing too little to late it's too thick. It's still a good piece. I think it would look very neat with a very Japanese wave type background to it.

I understand how that can go. I'd say go ahead and roll with the mistakes until all is said and done. I know I used to try and correct it as soon as I saw it, and it only created a disaster. Luckily now I have photoshop, so I don't have to worry about it.
If all else fails, you can make the outline thicker in relation to the inner lines, but that can only be taken so far.
