The relationship between him and Aerostorm is one I've neglected to explore. As the son of Lightning Dust, Zips was naturally taught to view Stormy, the son of Rainbow Dash, as his greatest flight rival. Lightning Dust's teachings went pretty well, but kinda backfired when kid Zipsy ended up getting a big stupid crush on his older rival:

So as an adult, Zips is Stormy's greatest racing rival, and, quite secretly, Stormy's biggest fan. A lot of Zips' trash talk and goading are really just masked attempts to get his senpai to notice him. Please please notice him, Zips is so starved for love and attention pls

Zipperflash is one of the veeeery few who can provoke Stormy into true aggression and competitiveness. Rainbow proudly calls it Stormy's "Dash mode".....Stormy just sees it as a very natural desire to leave that annoying little idiot chicken in the dust.

I like these two a lot, as just rivals, friends, a full blown ship, whatever. Pegasi do court each other with elaborate flight maneuvers and shows of speed, so these two have technically been courting each other for a while

just ask him out zipperflash, it doesn't need to be this whole big goddamn production
