did you guys know Onyx is a technician gem? I feel that's a pretty understated part of her character. Let's have some drawings of her doing science-y things~

1.) "Young"/Babby Onyx. Just lookit that little dweeb. So enthusiastic to learn and build stuff, so eager for everybody's attention and approval, like a geeky puppy. So eager to obey her superiors and be the best gem she could be, kind of a teacher's pet, really. This made her an obvious choice when it came time to select gems for experiments.

2.) Onyx during the experimentation days. Zircon was in charge of research, and Onyx's former mentor of sorts. The "drone mode" she's referring to is a sort of robotic, slave state where Onyx's free will and personality is disabled, and she must obey all orders given by her superiors without question. Zircon can force Onyx into this mode by emitting a signal through her own earring transmitters. Not much else to say about Zircon, except that Onyx is terrified of her, even now

3.) Current, cynical, jaded, lovable tsundere asshole Onyx. Crash-landed on Earth years ago, stuck indefinitely. Eventually runs across unusual, eventual allies Larimar, Citrine, and Emerald, and has stupid gem team adventures with them. In this drawing she's dismantling a truck for spare parts. Although she long ago renounced her allegiance to Homeworld, she's still a scientist and compulsively fixes and studies things. There's still an excitable, geeky, science-fascinated heart in there, buried way deep down
