You just have to watch out. For some reason, wasps don't like being the focus of ones attention for too long. They get frustrated, and come after one's self most of the time.
At least they do when I have a camera.

Yes that can be the case. It depends on the species of wasp. Paper wasp species aren't so aggressive unless you are sticking your lens toward their nest.

Taken at 65mm? You're braver than me, it's a bit too close for comfort for my liking.

I'd say there are other members on here worthy of that title. In my case perhaps a bit of luck is all. Either way getting stung, bitten, etc is all good as long as you get a photo from it.
