Ok, here is my deviation for today
I have been looking though dA in search for a good drawing/painting of Qui-Gon Jinn, but quite frankly I didn't find much.. There are loads of Vader, Yoda, Fett, Anakin... What about Qui-Gon, one of the best Jedi of all time?
So I decided to make my own
I extremely rarely do fanart as I usually prefer making my own stuff, but the idea of making a pic of Qui-Gon lingered in my head for quite some time, so I just went for it
I hope you like it
Photoshop CS3, Intuos2 tablet, a bit less than 2 hours or actual work.

An awesome portrait of Qui Gon! I wonder how Anakin would have turned out if Qui Gon had lived to be his Master, though I believe Obi Wan did his best.

Dude this is great! I love his eye the best, mostly because it's got little details and such (don't ask... I am a sucker for oddities and little things
I bet the hair took the longest time to do! All those strands of hair! That would make me want to say "fnck it" and make him shave

haha!! I think what took the longest time was actually the beard, as I literally painted every single hair in there..
The hair itself was rather made "speed-painting" like, and is not so detailed if you really look at it

lol nah not really, it took me about 20 minutes to do it, half an hour at max, depending how you count it

Wow. Detailed coloring. But you don't have to put the outlines very strong, sweetie. It's still a great masterpiece though! great job!

Qui-Gon Jinn was always one of my favorite jedi... and his influence is so far reaching, no matter his demise... after all, it was his choice to put Anakin through training. And his death was what caused Count Dooku to begin moving toward the Dark Side in the first place...

You know what's ironic? You have CS3 and an Intuos2 tablet, and I have CS2 and an Intuos3 tablet.

Intuos3 are nice, but the most common ones are 6x8 at max usually, which is waaay too small for me.
I use an intuos2 9x12, and can't imagine working with a smaller one.. Unfortunately, Intuos3 of this size are a "bit" expensive..
CS2 is great, I still use it myself on my other computer

Lol i fail at tablets have a graphire 6x8 or smaller and a 17inch labtop screen i can't draw anything with it

And yes, drawing and painting on the computer takes a bit of practice. Don't give up and keep trying until you become comfortable with it

Right. I myself have an Intuos3 6x8. Of course, because I haven't used one before, it's fine for me. Especially since I have a Macbook, and the screen is only 13 inches.

I can't work under 19".. You need space to do digital painting, you need to see without a magnifier.. lol
