[Update May 22nd]: I have edited it a little bit, fixed some of the things that were bugging me. Among the things I changed are:The lens flare on the green blade. Indeed because of some beginner mistake, an edge could be seen just above Celia's head. I also changed the direction of the flare so it kind of follows the blade, which I find is cool..
Added some highlights in Celia's hair.
Added glowing effects on both character's clothes and hair.
Edited the shading on the pants of both characters, especially around the feet.
Added some kind of shadow at their feet, so they are not just "floating" on the grass

Hello there everyone
Here is my latest pic for you guys here on dA.
it represents one of the scenes from my short story "The Last Trial", featuring my 2 rp characters Tabris Longuine and Celia Zatel.
I'm not saying what they are doing or what the outcome will be, for this you'll have to read my story
Anyways, I had fun doing this, even though the background gave me hell.
It has been a long time since I made a full background like this, and even though it seems very dark, it wasn't easy to make..
I know the lighting is funky, but it's ok. As I often say, lighting doesn't always have to be realistic

Pose for Tabris inspired by a picture from *jademacalla , one of the best male stocker around here.
Pose for Celia inspired by a picture from *spiked-stock , as usual when I draw Celia
I believe I used a brush by *redheadstock for the moss that you can barely see in the background.. lol
Photoshop CS3, Intuos2 tablet, about 10 hours of actual work (yeah, 2 characters for once, so lot of time spent.. lol)
As usual, comments/fav/watches are highly appreciated
[edit]I find that in order to see the pic as it should, you'd need to have a slightly darker screen.. if your brightness is boosted up, that's not too good.. lol.[/edit]

for some strange reason when i read the story the scene that was coming to me was sometihng like Felucia.

the grass is really boring. add a rock or something lol
where the beam on Tabris's saber meets the hilt kinda looks like it's gonna fall off, maybe if u made it fix on abit better. maybe with super glue

I totally see your point about the grass, and a few months after making it, I think you're right..
In the scene I wrote and described, the floor is supposed to be empty, just with grass, like a barren spot in the middle of the forest.. I guess it does look a bit plain and cheap.. lol
For the lightsaber, my idea was to have Tabris in movement whereas Celia was very still (In the short story, he makes the first move). So I guess the way I expressed the movement with the blade is what causes this.. I guess I should have done a couple tweaks at the base of the blade..

i did get the feeling of an open space in the writing but if u think about it an open space isn't empty. it doesn't look cheap u fool xD just looks abit unfinished

Very cool. Excellent figures...I see she's got a really old-style lightsaber. Why is that?

she has an old style saber for several reasons. The first one being that she was trained by the guy shown here who is himself not too young anymore and rather old-school. The second reason is that old style designs are, in my opinion, more practical than fancier sabers as shown in the new trilogy for instance, but also more believable if you consider all the components that are supposed to be in there. The last reason is that I just like drawing this kind of sabers better

It seems like she is having a very hard time, must be hard to fight against Tabris even with all those years of training, i like how they look at each other, both seems to be a little tired, but Tabris is still calm like a real jedi master pro, and Celia looks like she is not going to give up.

As for the story, it's not a book (yet.. lol).
It's actually a short story I wrote from a roleplay I had in #JediOrder, which I rewrote to put it in a more "novel" form.

Dude, unbelievable hands! I really really really love Ceila's hands the most! I think the background works well with them and what I pictured from reading the story.
I wish there were more "glow" highlights on their clothing and in Celia's hair. I can see them more on the file you sent me, but from the ones that are there they rock, especially on Tabris's hair! Oh yea and I love his hair as well lol! It looks like he uses Pantine Pro-V Shampoo and Conditioner! Celia's expression is great! I love her mouth too! There's so much about all of this that I love... if I were to write everything you would have a short story to read yourself!
I think there is one thing that I don't think you did intentionally... it's the box edge I am guessing from the flares? It's suttle but it's above Celia's "mop" lol as you put it. but I am sure that's one of the things that bug ya. xD

And yeah, among a few other things, the box edge from the flare on celia's saber is the main one. Just a stupid mistake I made..
When you use lens flare on a layer set on "screen", never change its opacity! 
I'm gonna edit this and a few other things later today maybe
The glow effects on clothes is obviously not my forte, but I should definately have put more of them indeed. It's on the list of edits

Awesome! The background is kinda dark, but its sufficient.. it's not what we're supposed to be focusing on, and it brings out the characters even more.
The red line border, and the title right on the pic makes me think of those pictures people post around their office with wise sayings on them. All you need is a quote along the bottom saying, "Don't be afraid, it's a very sharp blade!" ...or something better. o_o
