So tonight I said, "I want to try something new. I've always wanted to start using Adobe Photoshop 7! Oh, I know! I'll try a fun speed paint on real fur!"So, I found some fruit bat references and this fur tutorial on DA, and started cracking on it:

Six hours and some technical difficulties later, so much for a speedpaint. It was a lot of fun though, and it's pretty! ...Not bad for my first try at realistic shading in a LONG time. I avoided shading like this for a couple of years because the digital programs and tools I had made it really frustrating to get all the fur lines to go where I wanted them. Photoshop and a tablet are amazing!
Look, I'm posting this thing at 4 in the morning!

There will DEFINITELY be more works like this in the future. It's not such a scary style anymore, now that I know I can get it accomplished within hours/days instead of months!

How cute! She looks pretty happy here. Now if only she were real... I love the amount of depth this has. The shading and highlights are very realistic and the anatomy looks great. Excellent job! I would urge you to do more of these of your other characters, but I'm pretty sure you'd rather not spend around 6 hours each on them. xDD

XD Real? Maybe one day. I've thought to myself before that if I ever decide to make another fursuit for myself, it's going to be difficult having to choose between Nyxis and Tazzle!
Lol, there will definitely be more works like this in the future since I switch between art styles I'm fond of very quickly. I probably won't be making realistic pieces back to back though. Doing this in one sitting was killer on my eyes! XD

Haha, my art's constantly changing too. Sometimes it's soft, sometimes it's semi-realistic, it's always changing. It's good to experiment with different styles because it helps broaden the spectrum. Sometimes combining styles can be fun too in order to create something fresh.

It will definitely be a while before I make a new fursuit! I'm pretty content with Wing; know I'd be conflicted if I had multiple fursuits for myself because I'd never know which one to wear on outings.
