There is a TV advert over here for a compsrison website called "comparethemarket.com" (market being a play on the word meerkat) which features a team of toy meerkats. It has really caught on and their catchphrase 'simples' has also caught on. You'll often hear people using 'simples' instead of 'easy'! We Brits are easily pleased

This is really great I always have trouble with dof and trying to blur the background while keeping my subject sharp. Is that just easier with smaller subjects?

I don't think it is a matter of the subject being smaller, but rather that the foreground is less busy making it easier for the subject to retain its clarity while the background is blurred -- in other words dumb luck! LOL!
