loro-mi-dicevano — THE WAR IS A LIE.

Description 1,350: number of American casualties.
10,000: number of Americans wounded in action.
5,000: number of Americans too badly wounded to return to duty.
150: number of non-American coalition deaths.
100,000: estimated number of Iraqi casualties.
300,000: estimated number of wounded Iraqis.
200,000 to 150,000: the number by which American forces are outnumbered.
400: number of foreign (non-Iraqi) civilian deaths.
0: number of WMDs found.

He says we're not allowed to see the coffins returning from Iraq. We're not allowed to see the fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, children come home from a needless war, because "everything is going fine there." We're not allowed to read the names of the soldiers killed on TV - why? Because it might enforce the idea that not everything is rosy?

Abu Ghraib, detaining "insurgents" without proof, and, now, a would-be Attorney General who condones torture and dismisses the Geneva Conventions - because international law is international law, unless you're the Bush administration, right?

The war is over, they say. They scream it to the world, they print "Mission Accomplished" on big banners and their leader plays soldier dress-up and talks of his triumph, while the slaughter across the Atlantic rages on. And he uses the suffering in campaign commercials, but you won't see his face at a son's funeral when his coffin comes home, an American flag draped over it.

Have you no sense of decency sir, at long last?

I am an American, and I am a patriot - but no true patriot, though George Bush claims to be one, would send our men and women off to die in a war that seems to have no end. I thank them for their service - and hope that tomorrow does not see more of them killed.

There was no deliberate lie about WMDs. It's called making a mistake. The people in charge just happened to be hardheaded cunts who didn't like being wrong. So they still went with the story that there were WMDs.

The war is a classic example of a good idea that just wasn't executed right.

He may not have had WMD's but he had a lot of he would need to make such things and while he may not of had direct links to Al-quiada he did have links to Bin Laden. That in my opinion is cause enough to demand some kind of action and while there might have been another way i feel an invasion, for the long run, was the only viable alternative.

Well, I think the war was executed just as it was planned - by prolonging it. you see, there are numerous companies gaining profit from war. If you think this is the only war dragged a bit too long, then there were other wars too like Vietnam war and world war II which were deliberately made longer.

Americans are usually always outnumbered.

Also, I can pronounce badly-supported lies in block text in Paint too.

huzzah.

good points there, but, do you realize, that when someone signs up for the military, they are generally volenteering to give their life for whatever cause? Those soldiers are there, because they want to serve our country. It's hard on the family memebers and friends, but it is a great comfort that the soldier died doing something they loved, serving our country. Sadaam Hussein was a terrible man, and needing to be taken care of. Wouldn't you like to see other people around the world enjoy the same freedoms we do? The president may have been wrong in his descisions, but some greater goods have come out of it.

The question is whether or not their death was worth it. It's certainly not a comfort for many military families to realize that their relative died for a lie: "Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass descrution." "Saddam Hussein had ties to Al Qaeda." "Saddam Hussein posed an immediate threat to the world." Fewer and fewer soldiers are signing up for the military, in fear that they'll be sent off to Iraq (and they're more than likely right).

This is controversial, but what makes Saddam's crimes worse than ours? The way I see it, killing one man is as indefensible as killing one thousand. I cannot imagine telling an Iraqi mother, "We need to kill your husband and children in order to give you freedom."

Saddam was a tyrant, and I don't know who could disagree with that. However, he had no weapons, he had no capability of making them - yes, in the interest of full disclosure, he had the intent to make them once sanctions were lifted, but Saddam should have been removed from power while sanctioned, with a means that did not kill tens of thousands of innocent civilians.

Points taken. We've got our own points of veiw, and we can express them freely. I didn't mean to criticize you, just wanted to state my point of veiw, that's all. But yes, the president has made mistakes, let's hope he doesn't make any more, because we have to deal with him for another 4 years.

You are indeeeed correct. Different points of view & debate make for a much better world than everybody thinking the same way, most definitely.
