I dig your style. I really like how Kasumi and Miranda turned out. *scampers off to the rest of your gallery*

Aw, well, it gives me something to look forward to in your future pics! Still, I like your old stuff, a lot, too!

Love your idea of Tali. Everyone looks great!! And lo and behold, you even made Jack actually look lovely. Bioware take note!!

Wow! This shows talent, since you've captured likenesses pretty well and, of course, ballpoint is very hard to draw this well with. I especially love the eyes

Thank you very much. I actually would have a hard time drawing anything not with a ballpoint lately

That's the utter opposide of me XD. I make too many mistakes to draw with pen

I smudge pencil sketches all over

heckidunno In reply to Lorrain [2011-09-16 16:24:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's annoying XD. I tend to use greaseproof paper to stop that, if that helps, but I don't bother with sketches

Seriously?! It's just the stuff you use to line cake tins etc - it's magic for drawing though

I'm really not professional or even especially committed hobbyist

Really? Your modesty is admirable, but talent like this should be acknowledged and developed. You have terrific potential and could go places with it!

Thank you very much but every time I look around dA I am astonished what wonderful talents people have and the wonders they create. I rarely manage to put that "something" in my art and well, I don't know if I can develop such talent.

As long as you love your art, that's all that really matters. I just meant to say that you COULD, in my opinion. Admittedly, I only draw as a hobby myself but I'm not as practiced as you are.

Don't think of your artwork as a task or chore to complete and, in doing so, end up hating it. That's why I haven't tried to take simple commissions much - I don't think I'm skilled enough and I don't want to treat my art as a job.

I'm not either, far from it - I just like to draw in between school and homework

Lorrain In reply to heckidunno [2011-09-19 14:24:30 +0000 UTC]

And yet your knowledge of ... stuff is more advanced than mine I really recently only do ballpoint drawings. Not much philosophy in that.

Fair enough. Your style really suits ballpoint anyway - I just had a look in your gallery and it's AMAZING

Actually, since my scanner works partially, if I even do something with shading you won't see it or it will look shitty enough for me not to post it at all. I guess I even changed my doodling style somewhat to accommodate my inability to scan properly

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

heckidunno In reply to Lorrain [2011-09-20 16:42:33 +0000 UTC]

Really? That sucks. Well, your stuff is awesome anyhow
But btw, I was just wondering how you manage to do the shading that the scanner does show. When I doodle with biro the pen tends to stick and do nothing, then let out too much ink and ruin any shading . Is it practice, a certain technique or have you just got better biros? XD Just curious because I had no idea it was possible to do shading that smooth with a biro before

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lorrain In reply to heckidunno [2011-09-20 17:37:29 +0000 UTC]

I use the cheapest Bic buros you can get. Always did.
I really don't know. My scanner usually shows only the darkest part of shading and to be honest it doesn't look as smooth as on paper. I guess it's practice than

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

heckidunno In reply to Lorrain [2011-09-20 17:45:34 +0000 UTC]

Ah, right. It's generally the light shading I have trouble with:
But thanks - I'll get plenty practice in boring lessons XD
