Description Inktober 2022, Day 1- Gargoyle

I have decided to participate in Inktober this year. I’ve never done it, even though I love using pens and ink, but I got a bunch of different pens and brushed laying around, and want to draw more, so here we are.

Day one is a Gargoyle, which I have never, ever drawn. I Googled a bunch of images of them and drew everything as I went, so I would up with this Frankenstein-looking creature who turned to stone on a hill of rocks. The story in my head for this thing is that it managed to free itself from whatever magic was binding it to the church and decided to live as a beast in nature. Its actions angered some acolyte of the church, and they tracked it down during the day and took it while it was still stone. They placed it on one of those areas on Earth where the sun is almost always shining, so the creature is forced to stay a statue for nearly all its life. It was forced to perch on the edge of a cliff, where nature started taking its toll. That’s about all I got.

I get a lot of joy out of drawing stuff as I go. I can make some nice, polished pieces with a lot of planning, but I feel very drained and creatively stifled for a long time afterwards, so it’s kind of a drag. If someone reads this and has any strategies for dealing with this (even with planning), I’m all ears.

This was all done with a Pentel Brush Pen, but I intend to use different pens and brushes throughout Inktober. Anyway, thank you if you click on this, and leave a review if you like.
