I already stared designing my costume when I stumbled upon your photos. They are incredible. I was going to use air drying clay for the head piece (though I hate the stuff coz it feels like slimy rubber :Z) but I ran into the problem of that I had no idea of how I was going to turn it into a wearable head piece. I canβt figure out what would be the best or most comfortable way to make it wearable. I was thinking of something like a small band of metal but I canβt see that as easy to apply or fun to wear. Is there any chance you could give me a hint or push me in the right direction?

Maybe I can help. I'm making a Suicune costume myself for Anime Boston 2012. For the hea piece/crest I took a disk of dense craft foam (a big one, they go for about 15 bucks at the large craft stores like Michael's or JoAnn Fabric) and carved it out. Now I'm applying 4-5 layers or Elmer's glue to strengthen it and make a smooth surface for painting (because straight spray paint literally ATE a test chunk of foam and idk what other paints will do), then I'm going to paint it and use fabric glue or something to attach it to a cloth to tie around my head.

I first thought about a headpiece made of wire and air drying clay, but when I made it it wasn't fitting for my head. So I used a string of gum (like 3inches) and put it around my head, the piece in front with glue and the wig on top of it.
It's never comfortable if you're a good cosplayer XDDD" At least if you're trying to do good pokΓ©mon gijinkas XD
