Why do I see people shipping Arcee with Optimus and/or Hot Rod? She was literally made for Bumblebee

Optimus and Elita are the spitting image of the ideal married couple. And I loved Elita because she was an adult not some girl who just is "Optimus' girlfriend". Elita deserves recognition not just as Optimus' better half but also as a character because she is developed. Hence her famous line, she really does know no fear. She is extremely brave and has literally faced death, and afterwards was ready for action right away. In my opinion, it's no wonder Optimus fell in love with her.
I think the reason fans ignore Elita so much is because she's Optimus' love. If Elita was just another character in the show, she would have been a little more loved. Through the eyes of 90% of fangirls, there is no such thing as a woman in canon at least who will ever be good enough for Optimus. To be very honest, while I always found Optimus had a very friendly and loving look, I am one of the few female fans who never got what was so hot about him. He's a cool character and all, but... he reminds me of my dad. In fact, his personality is meant to be that of a 40 year old man and according to canon source, not only is Optimus taken, by the standards of an Autobot, he's actually not handsome. He's plain. Moreover, Elita is the one who's very beautiful and ageless. Go figure.

This makes me happy in crazy ways.
Elita-1xPrime GO.
I really should contribute more to this pairing as well. They really do need more love.
And despite what people say, she is pretty bad ass and deserves more recognition. But oh well, 'Cest la Vie...opinions matter not too much in a land of fiction and alien robots. As long as people don't get too crazy and obsessive along the way, hehe.
Also, I really do love the background. Cybertron is such a crazy place to try and draw, ARGH. I think you did well with the details and colors over all.

Thank you!
Elita one is a total Bad ass. A lot of people seem to write her off as some random and annoying female character. With all the slash fans in the fandom I can see why she'd be an easy target for bashing, being with Optimus and all. But even though she showed up very briefly I think she stood out as a very strong willed and respectable character. Plus, Prime would have been melted into scrap by Starscream if she hadn't risked her life to save him. Gogo Elita!
But yeah, when it all comes down to it these are fictional cartoon robots from a show designed mainly to sell toys and really shouldn't be taken that seriously, lol.

Yeah, I agree with you. I try to avoid the internal conflict that seems to stem from the different sides of the Fandom, and just kinda do what I want. This plays in with the whole how they react to those characters, or how they don't even want those characters to be real, despite the fact, THEY ARE. I have no problem if they want to like what they want, but bashing on these actual canon characters (Elita-1 or femmebots in general) because they don't like it is just silly. People shouldn't have to conform to fiction anyway that is played on fiction. Wut? I really like her character, and really wished she was used more. Kinda why i'm not a big fan of Simon Furman, because of his total dislike for TF femmes in general, and probably why we don't see much of her. BUT she was in Origins for a couple panels! When I found out about that series they were going to do but cancelled for DW with her playing a major part I was SO SAD. All though I will say her scene in the Botcon comic was pretty awesome. XD
And yes, fictional aspect fun time that some disregard so hard when others do not agree. I can only cross my fingers and hope not to run into such while flitting about on DA for now. lol
Wow that was longer then expected, LOL.
And YES, GOooooo ELITA! Hehehe.

It always managed to bother me that the femmbots were such a target of bashing simply because they might interfere with possible slash pairings people might support. For example, people who like to slash Ironhide automatically seem to dislike Chromia since they showed interest in each other. People who like to slash Prime tend to dislike Elita, and so on and so forth. (and I see the same hatered portrayed against other female characters in about any fandom with a high population of slash fans) It always bothered me, seeing as the majority of slash fans are female, showing such disrespect to their own gender.
Personally I love slash, especially Transformers slash. But slash is about boy love, not girl hate and I find the whole thing to be rather sexist some times. Also, if your channeling all your hate into a cartoon robot, I think you have some bigger issues, lol.
I did not see her scene in the bot con comic... do you know where I could find it? I was very fond of her bot con design.

Guh, better late then never I say, hehehe.
And understandable on that front. And yes, people getting all crazy that it effects their real life and actual judgment on people because ohtehnoestehrobots is a sad case indeed. This goes for all the different parts of fandoms in my book. Which is why I prefer to stay out of it. I personally dislike slash, never got into it, doesn't get me going- but I have friends who love the stuff so, it's all good on their front. It only bothers me when people try and shove their ideals on people because they can't wrap their head around the fact not everyone likes the stuff and have other venues of how they want to show their love for the fandom, be it just random art or fan characters or what not. I haven't had anyone say anything to me, but i've had a couple friends who have and I find it demeaning that people get that damn crazy to even attack people's personal lives. But I guess some people don't grow out of the high school bit or something, or can't discern real life objectives from fiction. And for that, i'd feel pity for them.
Also, Lemme see if I can find the link-and viola;

They are so handsome, pretty, cuddly and romantic!
Sorry for the fangirl outburst...
How can two robots from one episode of a cheap cartoon made before I was born to sell toys be the most romantic couple I have ever seen?
I especialy like that they both look very mature here, too often people draw Elita looking like a little fluffy girl. She should definitely be a mature person.
The stained glass style is nice.

WerewolfThorn In reply to LostSlivers [2009-09-23 07:40:12 +0000 UTC]
ItΒ΄s a very good story. As Orion and Ariel they are carefree and abit clueless youths. After the rebuilding they change alot, they become serious parent figures with the world on their shoulders. This changes nothing between them though.
Yes that scene is very romantic but a irrepairably warp part of my mind canΒ΄t help but seeing something unintentionaly naughty in it. That kinda ruins the romantic mood. But I promise I wonΒ΄t ever draw or write any sick fanstuff about it. There is too much of that already.

Oh please. You are talking to the queen of seeing unintentionally naughty things in everything. I saw it too. It was ... pretty hard not to see it.
And I'll admit I have contributed a fair amount of "That sick fanstuff" you speak of. (None of which can be found on this site, of course. And none of which involved these two.) When it comes to sick fanstuff, I'm more of a Megatron and Starscream kinda girl.

WerewolfThorn In reply to LostSlivers [2009-09-23 14:54:48 +0000 UTC]
Yes, honestly how could the writers NOT see how silly the situation was?
Perhaps "sick" was a harsh word, "silly" is a more fitting term. Silly is usualy a good thing. Personaly I donΒ΄t see the point of sexualising Transformers but I have to admit that some of the slash fiction is quite funny and silly. Megs and Screamer, I have to admit itΒ΄s hard to deny the unintended ambigously gay duo style they have.

Ahh good old Transformers, with a 95% male cast and one of the most heroic protagonists ever, the men better not need females to act heroic! And I do recall it was Elita busting out her bad ass time stopping powers and coming to rescue her man.
I'll admit, I "ship" a ton of non-canon transcouples, But even I cannot deny two bots who were obviously made for each other!

Definitely a nice piece with a lot of character and emotion. Optimus and Elita are probably my favorite TF couple. Elita-1 is perhaps my favorite of the female Autobots, particularly because of her maturity and inner strength. Chromia comes in a close second.
IF you're open to a little bit of artistic critique, Elita's face is a little off. It's not extreme, but it's noticeable. The nose is a little large and the shape is a bit too broad and square. It needs to taper more. Also, the mouth is a little too low on the face. The gap between the nose and mouth is a little too much. Also, her thumb looks like it's coming out of the back of her hand.
Other than that, it's a great piece. A very interesting style. It looks almost like a Medieval stained glass window.

This picture is really heartwarming and the style is really nice. It reminds me of comic style a lot.
As someone who is a fan of Elita-One and OPxE1, I learned with time why so many people are not a fan of her or that pairing. It's actually a lot of reasons, but these are the most common ones.
1- It's because Elita-One is the lady who is officially Optimus' love and a lot fangirls out there want Optimus for themselves or for their OC. They don't like her because her existence is a reminder that Optimus is taken and with that said, they become towards her and focus only on her flaws. Even if Optimus was romantically involved with another woman, any female fan who has a crush on Optimus would still hate her or at least be kind of bitter towards her.
2- Because Elita-One isn't the cool girl. She's not full of attitude, rebellious (unless she needs to be) or fun. She's serious, calm, no nonsense and very mature, and not a girl at all. She's a grown woman and might I add also very motherly which is also doesn't sit well with young girls (not all though, I actually love Elita-One because she reminds me of my mother).
3- Unfortunatly, Elita-One only appeared in one episode. Most people don't even know who Elita-One is let alone know that she's Optimus' wife. Moreover, there are many continuity errors which do not incorporate her existence in the G1 cartoons so she got lost in the series.
