For a long time, I wanted to draw some great figures of History... that's it now, with Voltaire x)

Before explanation about the drawing, I want to tell you some informations about him x3 I must say that it's not really easy to tell all the things about him x3

Full name : François-Marie Arouet (So, Voltaire is his nickname)
Birth : 21 November 1694, in Paris (Kingdom of France)
Death : 30 May 1778, in Paris (Kingdom of France)

  Voltaire is one of French philosophers during the Enlightenment (or Siècle des Lumières, in French, etc...), during the eitghteenth century. He's considered as one of great figures of this Enlightenment in France, with Diderot and Rousseau. The latter and Voltaire are rivals.

  He fights against arbitrariness, religious fanatism ; and also for tolerance and freedom of conscience. He also intervenes about many cases in France, especially :
    - The case of Jean Calas (1762 - 1765) : this protestant is accused about one of his son's murderer, because this one wanted to convert to Christiany. Jean Calas is sentenced to death and is executed. Voltaire does everything to rehabilitate his memory, and writes also his Treatise on Tolerance in 1765. The invesgation reveals that it's a suicide, and Jean Calas' memory is rehabilitated.
    - The case of Pierre-Paul Sirven (1765) : the context is the same. Sirven and his wife are accused about one of his daughter's death, Elisabeth. You should see more informations, because it's very complicated to explain that correctly ><
    - The case of La Barre (1765) : a young knight is accused of blasphemy. You can search about this one too.

  He corresponds with some kings, as Frederick II the Great of Prussia and Catherine II the Great of Russia, and also travels in Europe, especially in Great-Britain and Prussia. He writes also some books, as Lettres philosophiques (1734), Zadig ou la Destinée (1748), Le Siècle de Louis XIV (1751), Candide ou l'Optimiste (1759), Dictionnaire philosophique (1764), or L'Ingénu (1767). Voltaire writes also for l'Encyclopédie (1751 - 1772), by Diderot and d'Alembert.

  He's considered as a forerunner - with Jean-Jacques Rousseau - during the French Revolution, and in 1791, his remains are transferred in the Panthéon, an honor for some great figures of the French Nation (he's the second to have this privilege, with Mirabeau... but Mirabeau's remains are removed because of the revelations about some letters between him and King Louis XVI of France).

And about the drawing ? Oh... the author of the original drawing is unknown, but it's based of one of some sculptures about Voltaire, by Antoine Houdon (1741 - 1828), called Voltaire assis (you can search this one, if you want). It wasn't always easy to draw this portrait, but I did it !!! x3 I'm so happy about that ^-^

I don't know why, but I really wanted to draw him x)
