The Tree of Life isn't just a safe haven for the sick and hurt. It's also named as such because it is a place where life sprouts in abundance.

  Zira was a devout follower of Scar, and her dream was to bear a cub deemed worthy of becoming Scar's heir. But after having Nuka, Zira's confidence in her mate wavered. She knew she needed to give herself the best chance at producing a strong, handsome cub. Cubs, even!

  Although it was common for lionesses to give birth to single cubs, Zira had heard stories of a land where life thrived, and cubs were always born in litters of two or more.

  One day, while she was (with much resent) watching her son frolic in the grass, she huffed and sighed. She couldn't present this soft, pathetic whelp to her beloved Scar — not without being laughed out of the Pridelands!

  That settled it. Zira would go to the Tree of Life and find a strong, handsome mate to give her a bountiful litter of cubs. Then, she would surely have a suitable heir for her king.
Surprisingly enough, she found a worthy lion who even looked similar to Scar!
In a matter of months, Zira would have two beautiful, healthy cubs.
