Since his throat and vocal chords are often turned to stone in his gargoyle form, he doesn't usually talk, but if he does its mostly growls and the sound of gravel scraping against the inside of a barrel.
Scars || Various, light scars that look like hairline white cracks beneath his skin, especially on his knuckles, chest, and stomach - due to his stone flesh cracking in battle.

History

Ivanov Ierchov was born and raised in Russia, in the city of Krasnoyarsk on the Yenisei River. His family has a proud history as direct descendants of the French Gargoyles that joined in the fighting of WWII, and also as prominent members of the Drakon clan for many generations - the most powerful gang in all of Krasnoyarsk. From the moment of his birth, Ivanov was taught the honor of being a gargoyle, protectors of cities and people worldwide, and how to hold his own in a fight. When he came of age, Ivanov was initiated into the Drakon clan, following in the footsteps of his father, and his father's father. It was only after he became a member that he learned the truth of the gang and his family's legacy.

For decades, the Drakon clan of gargoyles acted as mercenaries for hire and, for those who could afford them, as personal guardians against the ancient river creatures that often crawled out from the Yenisei river. However, the clan's true business had always been much darker than that. The Drakon clan specialized in catching, selling, and trading these creatures for an underground fighting ring known as the Yenisei hell tournament. The money they made from selling tickets to these fights, and selling off their prizefighters to other similar tournaments, made them the most powerful people of the city. Of course, the Drakon clan was not the only organized gang in Krasnoyarsk, and terrible feuds broke out between rival gargoyles for territory, and more importantly: for control of the underground creature market and Yenisei hell tournament.

Ivanov spent his formative years caught up in this world; fighting the disfigured creatures while fending off rival clans, and ultimately trapping the most fit of these river monsters for his bosses. However, the business always put a sour taste in his mouth. Though it was commonly believed that the creatures he killed or caught no more than soulless beasts, Ivanov couldn't help but notice their cries of lonely pain in the night, how they fought tooth and nail for their lives in the tournaments, and the sadness in their eyes when they were bought and sold. What's more, the Drakon clan valued the trading of these beasts above their original creed of protecting each other and the city. Ivanov lost many friends during the hunting of these monsters, and was severely reprimanded whenever he killed a creature to protect his friends, rather than let his friends die to make the catch.

The final straw came on the day Ivanov dissevered that his hunch was correct: The creatures he caught were indeed sentient. They surfaced from the river to protect their families and river cities from the gangs that hunted them - and were killed for simply attacking the city that was driving them to extinction. Unable to stomach the evil of his clan once he learned the truth, he fled Russia, to the city that he heard harbored all kinds of fantastic creatures. He meant to live out the rest of his days in quiet solitude; making amends by living peacefully and knowing that returning to his country could spell out certain death from those he'd cut ties with.

However, fighting was and always will be in his blood, and it wasn't long before the gargoyle found he could not stay away from the criminal underworld he grew up in. After chasing rumors of each of the four gangs that ran the city and their practices as organized criminals, he decided to join the Knuckle Draggers, for their defencive stance. He spends his days longing to raise his fist for something more noble than what he fought for in Russia, and is grateful for an outlet for his bitter rage he holds against those he once considered his family.

+ || Loyal || Once Ivanov has made a decision, he sticks to it through thick or thin. This means that those he considers his friends have his unshakable trust and protection. It also means he will do whatever is asked of him by those he considers his superiors with little to no questions asked, unless utterly against his morals, and will fight for those he has ties to with reckless abandon.

+ || Empathetic || He will almost never lose patience with a friend in physical or emotional distress, or who has earned his respect, and can get upset even over fictional characters' problems. He does his best to help those in need, and is generous with whatever he owns, but does not possess the knowledge or experience of how to be nurturing. He will become instantly uncomfortable when someone cries, but he will never allow someone to cry alone, and if nothing else he will sit by them until they've calmed down.

+ || Tough || There are very few things that can rattle his confidence or constitution, and he trusts his strength and his ability to handle most situations. He is rarely startled or afraid due to his experience battle terrifying creatures that spawned from the Yenisei River and the hells of his former life in the Drakon clan. Aside from a glare, he will often lash out with angry growls at best and a swift punch to the face at worst. When made of stone, his flesh is almost impenetrable, he becomes resistant to knife attacks, but is still susceptible to bullets and blunt force.

- Even in his human form he is significantly stronger than the average man, and can lift up to 1.5x his weight. In gargoyle form, he can lift 3x his human weight.
- He has a lot of experience with street-gang violence and fighting creatures of all kinds. He is not afraid to fight dirty with swift and heavy-hitting punches and kicks to the face, stomach and chest, head-butting, and biting.
Weaknesses ||
- When he turns to stone, even in part, his weight and density change drastically. This means both his speed and agility drop significantly, and he is more likely to fall through anything that is not made to hold 6ft+ of solid rock. He will also sink in water, and will drown within moments.
- Anything made of stone on his body can be cracked with enough force and with gunfire. All cracks to his stone flesh will directly affect him when he transforms back to human flesh, and result in deep wounds.

- Gargoyles are naturally nocturnal. He can only freely turn from flesh to stone (and vice versa) at night, and he is also slower and weaker in sunlight. Transforming during the day takes much more energy and time and it is nearly impossible for him to change into his full gargoyle form. If he forces himself to completely transform, it will cost him extreme amounts of energy, and he'll lose consciousness within minutes depending on the time of day. At midday, he is at his most vulnerable, and will fall asleep if he is sitting still.

- Though he has wings, they are also made of stone. He cannot fly, only glide from place to place for a distance of about 3 miles.
- He does not require much sleep, but must get at least 4 hours of sleep a day (Sometime between 11 AM and 5 PM) to be at full strength.

Ivanov's arms remained firmly crossed over his chest as the robber raised his gun in the air, and he hardly flinched as the black-garbed man bellowed out his orders for everyone to drop to the floor. Instead, the Russian gave the man a glaring once-over, his ember eyes flashing with steel resolve and his jaw locking into a stony frown. Slowly, his lips parted, flashing his think fangs, "Ivanov give little man credit for nerve, making loud noises and threats with such tiny weapon," he growled, his voice rumbling in his chest like thunder, "But maybe Ivanov make mistake. Hearing is not so good..." With a little huff, the gargoyle pushed off of the counter he'd been leaning on, leaving a noticeable dent where his body used to be as he made a slow approach towards the robber. With each step, the tile beneath him cracked, and the hands swinging at his sides grew gray and pale as they curled into fists. Finally, the gargoyle was towering over the intruder, his teeth bared, "...Ivanov thought he heard Little Man say final words. Should Ivanov grab pen to write down for tombstone?"
