adorable. Was he trained to rear or was that a bad habit caught on camera? lol. very very handsome little guy.

He's trained to rear on command

very very cool. My friend won't let me teach our pony how to do that because she thinks that he would do it in harness.. which of course would be bad.. lol.. oh well, at least we have one to look at for reference.

Pim is a good role-model. He’s very well trained, and as said before, only rears at his owners command and has never done it in harness. He has very good balance standing on his hind-legs, the position of his front-legs indicates that he’s relaxed doing it.

I think that the temper of the specific horse decides whether or not it’s suitable to teach them. I would recommend asking someone experienced with trick-training to help you. There are lots of different things you can do, not just necessarily teaching the pony how to rear. Pim also knows how to bow, compliment (bow on both knees), wave, sit and wave at the same time, he also lays down; both on his side and on his back

I have a trick trainer that I work with on occasion.. But he mostly works with larger horses. His most recent project is a sassy mustang mare that he has trained to do all sorts of tricks. She is very good at the lay down, which helps because he is getting older and it helps to have the horse at least kneeling for him to mount up. Thanks for the advice and the magnificent subject. I will have to show his picture to our little Jack and see if he comprehends better what we are asking. lol. I think Pim has him beat as far as looks and stature, but maybe in time Jack can catch up on the tricks part. Thanks again.

No problems, and I hope the training with your Jack will go very well

Beautiful! Seems so well trained, rearing like that.
Is that a shaving pattern on his behind? Looks a bit odd

Thanks ^^ about the pattern on his behind, yes it is a shaving pattern; it's supposed to look like a lightning
