As Ru began to explain foot court to Mike, he had trouble concentrating on her words, as her massive six-toed stocking feet in his lap commanded his attention. He reached for her feet slowly, looking at her face for any sign of disapproval. Fortunately, this was one thing his attorney didn't raise an objection to. He began to play with her twelve toes and rubbed her silky soles, which calmed him down and made him happy. This was what Ru wanted.

"One of the biggest differences between foot court and the courts you're used to," said Ru, "is that there are only five jurors instead of twelve." Ru gestured toward the jury box. Mike's eyes followed her hand. There were indeed five jurors, all female. Going left to right, from Mike's point of view, there were a rabbit, a tigress, an alligator, a mouse, and a vixen. He could only see them from the waist up due to the front panel of the jury box. Mike wished there were some way he could see what kind of footwear they had on, as if an artist drew a cutaway view of the jury box without the front panel.
