Since I'm fairly certain it'll come up in the comments. Lu and Rani landed on Eymia, and it was a dead world. Remnants of past civilizations littered the landscape, but they were the only ones that were there. Through a series of exploration missions, they discovered a military bunker. There, they found hundreds of cryopods, all of the occupants deceased. The cause was displayed on a nearby computer "lack of resources resulted in early termination."

Rani had her first panic attack down there, and she hasn't gone back since then. Lu had taken another trip back to do some more searching, and discovered that a horrible plague had stricken the planet, and crippled it's civilizations. People either fled the planet or went into cryo-bunkers like this one to ride out the plague. Neither of the "solutions" worked. The ships that fled the planet had carried the disease on-board and the passengers were killed, and the cryopods didn't have the resources necessary to sustain all the occupants. Anyone that didn't do one of the two were killed. For thousands of years, Eymia was a dark spot on the galactic map. The transmissions that were sent to stay away were never stopped, so nobody ever came near the planet out of fear.

It was only after Rani developed a cure that was treated to the small pockets of the plague that remained, and Lu restored spaceports to operational status, that transmissions were stopped and word got out that Eymia was safe again. Slowly, scouting ships rolled into the system, and soon after that, carriers and passenger ships filled the skies again. The cities were rebuilt and people moved back in. And yes, this all happened well before coronavirus, so the current global situation had no impact on the history of Eymia.

So Eymia is, in a way, their planet. While they do share it with several hundred million others (it's not as big as Earth and has more percent water, so less population), they both feel a connection to this place. Like they belong there.
