Description When 2 (stupid) ponies fight, the third one is laughing silently, hiding from their sight, because he is not a pony at all.
The changeling hives, scattered throughout the land are not a large concern for the ponykind, not more than any common beast in the wilderness. They are nothing but another nuisance wishing to devour a little filly here and there as their twisted nature drives them. At least that is the impression of these colourful equines. The truth, however, could lie somewhere else.

Changelings of course are more animalistic, but that does not mean there are no vissionaries. Whether they just wish to elevate themselves above the basic love-draining instinct and enjoy a more complex cuisine or finally put an end to the hostilities caused by such primitive reasons like territory or differing eye colour, unite the race as a whole and show those ponies who is the boss in Equestria.
Finally the duo of such creatures has crossed paths to proceed on the long journey to world domination and blankets for all changelings. Why blankets? Surprisingly, they are central to the young history of this improbable union. Certainly, it won't be the craziest thing arising from this situation. But who exactly are our 2 heroes some might wonder?

The one wishing for blankets and generally obsessed with anything which can be stolen from ponies goes by the name of Neoteria and is recognized by her reddish mane. An untraditional queen of a changeling hive since she is more active in her stealing habits rather than directing her underlings to some set goal. She owes it to her curious nature, her eyes never tire of seeing anything shiny or unknown just as her hooves never tire of snatching it.
It almost ended her hive since her offspring share the thievish mindset and as the hive grew more fancy, they managed to discover blankets. Yes, such was the instrument of their impending doom: warm, fuzzy blankets. Everyling wished to have one but not all were able to steal for themselves from ponies, opting to steal from their broodmates. Ironically, that might have been a harder alternative as intense fighting errupted in the hive, driving poor little Neoteria to tears.

Fortunatelly the considerably more ilustrious queen Chrysalis galloped about the whole situation and administered a few slaps to the amber queen and was immediatelly recognized as the new authority in the foreign hive. Unsurprising, considering her imposing character and strong will. She is more of a traditional changeling queen in her function but many times moreΒ intricate in her methods. She always solves a problem efficiently and is always 2 steps ahead of her prey, literally. She likes to disguise herself as a sad filly, trembling in fear, pointing her hoof away with words: "There was a big, scary monster speeding through." That is if she had not already made sure some beloved mare has nothing to worry about for some time as the big scary magnificent monster replaces her. Generosity is a virtue, why keep all the love to oneself, yes?

Despite their differences, the queens are working together quiet well. Well, Neoteria got slapped the first time they have met but that was because Chrysalis wanted to beat some sense into her. Besides she was very gentle, not nearly as rough as she is when attending to some pony hunk of hay wrapped in armor.
The former "lesser" queen is actually very happy that she met a considerably more friendly changeling hive than the usual agressive brutes and accepts the superior queen with enthusiasm. Incredible amount of enthusiam. Since Chrysalis is a natural born leader, Neoteria has more time jump around with joy through the faintly lit caves, giving out hugs and neat stolen objects. She fulfills the role of a caring mother and an interior decorator as she wishes to integrate many advanced facilites into the newly formed kingdom of changelings. Stealing is fun and all but it would be amazing to actually let out some of that original creativity.
Needless to say Chrysalis is very irritated by this overly carefree hopping around and is more than capable of blasting her smilling companion into Tartarus if not for the fact that even she is pleased by Netties motherly care. Mostly because she no longer needs to attend to her offspring herself.
Though the giant heart-shaped rock in her chest is very cold, it is still beats for her subjects. It beats even more as she enjoys the fruits of innovation like the original changeling made dresses or observing her fellow changelings learn more ways how to rip off an unicorn's horn with their bare hooves. That really makes Chrysalis' irritated attitude considerably more upbeat.

Most importantly, unity is guaranteed by the shared dream of both queens to see the hives united and everyling to get along, though for different reasons. One wishes to end the hostilities because of her desire for kindness and understanding between the hives and the other wishes to rule it all and secondarilly demostrate to ponykind what an insignificant creatures they are. Try and guess who wants what.

As for the war plan, there really isn't anything specific. Ponies can fight all they want while remaining inhabitants can just sit back, watch and eat cupcakes (yes, the hive now has a kitchen and they have many many flavours, if something exists in the wild forests and dark caves, changelings can repurpose it into "edible" bakery, sadly they are not big on tourism to share their treats).
Neoteria handles all sorts of infiltration operations. Her cheery behaviour helps her imaginative disguises. Nopony would suspect her to be associated with some dangerous plot. Sadly, she is more concerned about stealing and enjoying rich conversation with one of her many lovers. It's ok though, she can leave all the complex war matters to someling more willing and just gather love with exceptional efficiency. Even without her disguise she is very huggable. Just look at those wide amber eyes and the inviting smile with those cute little fangs. Perhaps one day she will even captivate a stallion in her original form with her natural charm. She could possibly manage since she does not at all look like she would consume your very life essence with nothing but her gaze.
Chrysalis is busy with her own affairs. She no longer needs to guide her drones like mindless cubs since they have grown more individualistic. Could this mean potential trouble? Not really. The difference between ponies and changelings is that changelings are not treacherous bastards if we discount the whole steal-love-from-ponies parasite subject matter. More free time to contemplate about the Equestria takeover plan. For now its just letting ponies do their day/nigh conflict, ocasionally waiting for them in their homes, ready to give out hugs in exchange for a little bit of invisible substance they surely won't even miss.
In the long run, it propably would be reasonable to support the NLR more. This whole eternal night looks like a beneficial accord.Β  For a changeling, sunlight offers little to no comfort and Nightmare Moon herself seems like a reasonable mare as far as bothersome despots go.

Most would say that position of importance is a gift but some know what an ordeal it means. Who will be the first to fall, who is going to get blasted and who will wisely bow down to the superior being? In what manner shall I deal with the next possible intruding bunch of foals?
Chrysalis in her ideal case takes much pride and joy in what she does. It is most fulfilling to be THE future queen of Equestria.

Great pic, I love the contrasting colors and same-but-different approach Neoteria and Chrysalis' garb and decorations. Kinda gives the impression that each changeling hive is a variation of the same overall culture.

The story was really interesting. I like the idea of two villains in a stable alliance, with Chrysalis being in charge and Neoteria being fine with that because it lets her take a hands on approach to things. It's a nice break from them waiting to see whose gonna betray who first, like how this kind of team up is usually shown. Also kinda liked the that the changelings are (for now) staying out of the whole NLR/SE conflict and doing their own thing.

Yes, it seems that the digital editing really helped it. The colours and contrast were not properly scanned and even without that it is still very much chaotic picture. Next time I will try to hold up on the lights and details.

Even villains need friends, no? There is no guarantee whether their intentions would stay on the same course. Still there are not many alternatives for a changeling queen. Ponies dont really provide ... long stable relationships. But perhaps even that will change and there could be more queens entering the "circle of friendship" to shake things up.

Again, getting too ahead of myself in the head. Seeing how much time it takes to make these this is going to be a long ride.

True, the changelings don't have many options. I kinda like the idea of Chrysalis working on her grand evil schemes only for Neoteria to happily burst in wanting to show off her latest loot.

I should definetly draw more pictures of them to properly depict their behaviour and possible military/sneaking methods since that is the focus here on My Lethal Ponies.
Β
In the meantime, more Solar and Lunar pictures are on the way. Some of my markers dried out so now I have to compensate with more pencils until I get new ones. Maybe it is for the best, I need to learn how to properly distinct shades. There are some very unclear things in this picture. Perhaps its fine, since the whole obscure theme goes well with changeling secrecy.

Looking forward to whatever kinds of pics you decide to put out. You could actually slip references to the Changelings in pics about the NLR and Solar Empire, like a Changeling in pony-form standing in formation with a group of soldiers in the back round. The tell could be all green eyes, or something else.

Well, thats actually a very good idea. Shame I havent thought about this sooner. The pictures I am working on have already progressed too much, my next SE drawing is perfect for this.
Β
Thinking about it maybe I will be able to change the shading of some pair of eyes after all ... hopefully. Thanks for the idea.

Hey, who are these two changelings stuck to the pillar?

These are actually the statues of queen Chrysalis and my humble OC.
I guess it is not very clear due to the chaotic nature of this drawing and the fact that plants and flowers are used to depict their manes. Changelings dont have the necessary sculpting abilites to make them look exactly as their respected rulers I suppose ...Β or maybe I am just coming up with excuses for my poor skills.

That is for you to judge.

Such a nice work. You always put lots of detail in what you draw ^^ Chrysalis looks so lovely here

Thank you, I was a bit worried since it turned out rather chaotic. Though I guess the obscure look is fitting for the secretive changeling hive but not so much for the queen of changelings.
I feel I will also design a more royal and magnificent underground residence as my series progress. Something not so orderless to properly reflect her power.
I should also think about more ... uncanny depiction of her, like your avatar here. There is plotting to do and while she surely will look as lovely, it will be in a different manner.

Surely sounds very promising. I'll be definitely looking forward to seeing more.Β
(btw. I'm really glad you decided to get back to Chrysalis atm ^^)

Yes, I needed to add a third side to My Lethal Ponies. It was a toss between Discord and Chrisie, easy choice if you ask me.
You can be sure that I will be making more of changeling themed pictures, though most of them wont be featuring our dear queen. There are more aspects of the hive I would like to focus on. Not to mention my own OC and other non-MLP projects I have in mind.
Nevertheless she will certainly make an appearance. She is after all one of my most favorite characters and as I proved, I tend to return to imagining her.
