Ahh, back to basics. My bread and butter. Drawing fancy dresses for ... wait a minute?! That's not a princess! That's a prince! What's going on?

Fancy historical dresses have been a common subject matter of my drawings but all this time, I have been ignoring an entire subset of historical outfits by never drawing men's historical fashion. We are going to change that because there is a lot to draw. Granted, I don't feel as confident creating my own original outfit but that's fine. Fortunatelly, there are many existing characters I can depict.

So we come to Prince Radovan, my first ever prince outfit I've decided to draw for a number of particular reasons. First one being the outfit itself is actually rather simple, it's not the most complex, elaboratelly decorated thing in the world. I'm going to start small and work my way up to something more intricate. Although, I do like that the entire outfit is all white and the massive cape is all black (actually, the inside is dark crimson but eh, close enough). The cape makes it almost seem like the inner outfit is glowing because of the contrast. All the colourful embroidery stands out so well from the simple colours, too. All of this is not really indicative of my drawing skills, all the praise should go to the people who actually designed this dress. Speaking of which, Prince Radovan is from our Czech fairy-tale movie: The Princess with the Golden Star. A fairy-tale I really don't need to describe because I've already done so when I've drawn Princess Lada:

These 2 really belong together. Their outfits even have similar colour schemes. I've never even realized that but now when I have drawn them both and can put them beside each other? Yes, they are quite alike.

I should mention that with this picture, my Princesses, Queens, Dresses, etc. gallery will now be changed to Princesses and Princes, Dresses and Uniforms. As I have mentioned above I do plan to draw more of men's fashion going forward. In fact, most of my pictures will probably be actual characters from many of our national fairy-tale movies. These movies have been an inspiration for me eversince I've began drawing, way before things like My Little Pony or other animated shows. Back in the day I wasn't even into animation. It really has been these movies which inspired many of my drawings and I've always wanted to draw them. Now when I can say that my skill with a pencil is decent enough to do it, I can't resist it. Of course, I still might create some original designs but mostly, I will probably save those for my mermaids or other galleries.
