Lol the year will never be mentioned because I wanted the readers to feel like they really are in the future. If I place 2016 there and new readers from 2017 reads this comic it would ruin the whole future thing XD

At least by not mentioning the year people would always assume that they are in the future, no matter what year it is

That I cant think of any fictional year to put in the comics

Maybe on later comics there should be a Mario and Luigi time shift were Future Bowser jr enters the past to help warn the Mario brothers about a terrible fate and save the future depending on how the story will go so far.

It's more focused on Jr. and the Dark star actually. The plumbers will definitely make an appearance (It's still hard for me to  draw them! T-T). And there will definitely be a fight against Jr. and Bowser regarding family matters.

There are supposed to be 2 arcs in the series:

The Future arc is where the 3 koopas learns their strengths and weakness and gets stronger
