~Salute~(2018)
Flags fluttered as the fleet rose from their docks beneath the toxic smog.
Every steel beasts in their finest war paint, all will be battered and bruised by the year end.
Upon the decks of her flagship stood Princess Ingress, rising her hand for a final salute.
Sending her brave men on their way, with a single red balloon as a beacon should they lose their way.

Been a while since I did one of my favorite topic, Airships!!!!
It was so great to work on something original for a change hahahaa, man I missed this
So I decided to rework on an concept from way back. But this time with more effort and time spent.
Ingress actually have another version with a gas mask on, as the area she is in now should still be
toxic in the world of the story, I will post a version of that in my Instagram account with the
closeups there.

It's oddly satisfying to see how people design their airships, what kinds of shapes they use for the hull, turrets and bridge, what kind of propulsion or powerplant they use, things like that. Unlike the spaceship designs I see and I myself create which always share similar hull shapes and design, even weaponry which have become quite boring to look at after a while, since the only way forward is up. Airship designs generally look like they've reached their peak in technology and everyone has some amazing or silly warship design that show so much character.

Well, usually if I reach a chokepoint in designing a new ship, or item. I will look into real world examples.
Like for my airships, I started way in the past looking at anime designs like space battleship yamato to gundam ships.
Later on I start looking at Zeppelins and in more recently U-boats from the WWI and WWII. When you research these
designs long enough, you start to gain some understanding of what works and what doesn't work.
Then u start applying these little knowledge to your design, you will start to give little characters to them.

well what I meant to say was that airship designs seem much more free in how they appear, also since much of the sci-fi art for spaceships and aircraft seem to be all the same once you see enough of it.
I mean like, most of my designs themselves are based off Second World War German and Cold War Soviet designs. I quite like how the Germans designed their vehicles (things like the Sd.Kfz. 234 and E-50) while I also liked the Soviet stuff like the carousel autoloader and things like their Mig-29 and Su-27 series planes. For example, my ASF-262 is a further development of the Me 262 HG. III design but with intakes that can operate just like the Mig-29 or the Kpz-180 which is my take on a futuristic E-50 design but with a Soviet 180mm gun.

Yeah, i used to listen to this all the time in car when i little, it was the original german version so i had no idea what was being said let alone what it meant. There’s also a rock cover by a different artist

It took me a while to realise this, but she's holding on to a red balloon.
And honest to god, just that makes me want to fave this. "Oh hey she's got a balloon that's weird", and now I don't know if I can control my impulses anymore. Humans are not real, we are just things that happen. We happen in a consistently convincing way, like there was an actual thing that is a human, but then one day you read some book about how your brain is lying to you all the time about Israeli air force pilot training statistics or whatever and then red balloons in incongruous places control your emotions.
