Description
18x24 acrylic and ink on board. I am glad to have completed one more painting before I leave for a week long painting workshop in Siesta Key Florida. Rifts occur on many scales in nature; from the grinding of tectonic plates, the hypothesized cosmic wormholes in spacetime, and the subconscious disparity between wish and reality that generates dreams. In all cases, they are the source of tremendous energy.Related content

do you live in britain? because i thought maybe you were thinking of the quake when you did this. then again you might not have been

No, I'm in Chicago, USA, and I wasn't consciously thinking of the quake, but it make have been in the back of my mind acting as a subliminal influence. I do listen to the news radio often when I paint. Yes, I get the feeling of breaking from it also.

The funny part is, I recently started reading Contact by Carl Sagan and all I can think and be interested in lately is space. In some points of this painting I see a nebula like the ones I've been looking up the past week, a face that's shooting divine energy out from its eyes, and a planet orbiting into sight, being shot in its prime.
