Description

Send help, I have become addicted to using the #mischydtiys to test different techniques. I blame MischievousRaven for creating a ridiculously awesome character design.

Characters are my sona DreamWeaver and Lorebellex Quilldog Cascade . They're just hanging out today. I wonder what they're talking about...

Experimenting with toned paper, metallic markers and pastels this time. I'm not entirely happy with how Cascade's eyes turned out, they aren't blue enough, but I couldn't really figure out how to correct it. I'm still too unfamiliar with my pastels.

Speaking of being unfamiliar with my pastels, I can never figure out how much I need to apply before smudging. Look at the oversaturation in some spots XD Still, it doesn't look bad. It just... could be better. I guess I need to learn to use my pastels more.

I've also discovered that pastels are the only material to show on the metallic markers! Pencil does show slightly, but not as clearly as pastels. That is very good information to have and is making me reconsider how I'm going to handle blackpaper and toned paper drawings in the future.

I decided to not try using my brush pens on toned paper, since I was a little scared of them showing too dark and I don't have a lot of toned paper to work with so I didn't want to waste any pages. I'll have to get a toned sketchbook sometime.

The poses gave me a surprising amount of trouble. Holy freaking frick did those give me trouble. Perspective, how does it work. I'm happy with the anatomy and proportions though, which is great since those are definitely my nemesis.

Again, Cascade doesn't have her halo. I didn't know how to make it work with this pose, and even if I did I probably would've left it out because it would offset the composition. It's very nice and balanced at the moment, no need to draw attention to one side.

I'm honestly surprised I didn't smudge everything everywhere XD Go figure, when I use pencil I smudge everything with my hand by accident, when I use pastels I barely touch my hand to the paper at all.

...actually that does make sense, I'm just more cautious around pastels because I know they can smudge everywhere if I'm not careful xD
