For my new friendAh, shoot-- I realized that I should have made her ears a bit bigger....but I still really love how it came out! This is a very pretty character and I really wanted to draw her and see if I could draw that interesting shape she has for her eyes which is kind of square-ish and distinctive. I love the flower theme too, but its not just that she likes flowers, its part of an overall theme with her parents and hobbies and everything--I love a consistent theme in a character!
For a minute there I got that feeling, that feeling that the drawing isn't coming out the way I wanted and that early disappointment sets in, but I kept at it and it turned out really nicely! Whew! Im glad I kept at it. Since this cutey pie is white and has a white long sleeved blouse under her dress, the thing to do was put a colorful background so that she doesn't end up blending into a plain white backdrop. I had drawn some flowers and leaves to paste....but....they looked awful. I would have drawn them over again but I wanted to finish before Monday ends. So I resorted to using cliparts from google images--those are cherry blossoms and I think they look really good on this drawing. All the pinks make Aurora's dress pop a little bit. And I don't know about anyone one else but I like to think of pink and green as being a very good pair of colors to use together because it makes me think of pink flowers and green leaves, so a pink background seemed very fitting for Aurora.
Aurora was a joy to draw and color. If I had a little more time, I would have dressed her up in a costume, probably a flower fairy, but I guess that just means I can draw her again; Halloween will have passed by then but it will still be something fun to draw. ^^

I was honestly surprised when I first presented her that so many people found her design so interesting. It makes me happy to see others inspired by just a little doodle that I did.

Why thank you! Tj did a great job designing this character! I gotta admit, the bright green dress is something I wondered about but the more I drew her, the more it felt very fitting for her, since she loves flowers and what is more reminiscent of plants than the color green? Even her eyes are a dark deep green *-* The freckles were an adorable touch too!

YW. ^^ I just checked recently, she did do a good job on it and she's so interesting and eye-catching. I might try my hand at drawing her at some point in the future. Green is a very pretty color, I wish people used the color a little often, well at least I did with my deer priestess, Mikoto. She's definitely a one of a kind fan character.

Perhaps I should, I do love her due to her being a different species and whatnot. Originally I was gonna make her miko pants red but then my brother suggested green. I'm glad I made the right choice.

I like deer too,--even tried to sort of convert my perosna into a deer sonic fc but it could use some work.

Actually, she was supposed to be an adoptable but I love her design so much, I couldn't bear to part with her. It's a weakness of mine, I even kept two from my colorless adoptables because of their designs and ideas I have for them. I didn't know what to use her for except her name was gonna be Fay, but then Toastybrains bought my deer replacement adoptable and named her Faye. So I was at a loss until she helped me with her being in tune with nature. Next thing I knew, I decided, why not a Japanese priestess who takes care of a temple at the base of a mountain? I thought it worked well for her.

Well, it's a sometimes thing, there's always that one or two I unexpectedly fall in love with. Adoptables really does help with raking in points but you'd have to make lots of them and price them decently. For instance, I made colorless adoptables, simply once after you buy one, you make your own colors for the character and I made unclothed and clothed versions (clothed ones cost more due to the additional time I spent on them). This way, the buyer has more freedom but I still have 8 left to sell and people are hardly looking at them. Perhaps I need to submit them to more fangroups.

I do love this Japanese priestess idea. The outfit is really nice, really spot on accurate! Not only is she cute, but the hooved foot is a really nice touch too^^

Thank you so much, I'm happy you think so. It sounds original (if I'm not the first to come up with it, then oh well), I had to look a references to make sure I had her outfit right. It would drive me crazy if a deer didn't have hooves for feet, so I'm satisfied with her.

but some culturally diverse fcs would be a nice change up to things. I made a snake, doesn't really look like a sonic fc, but oh, well, he's an indian rock python, so he's actually from Indian. He's very pretty, very naga-esque, which is also an indian mythical creature. Im working on giving an Arabian sand snake boyfriend. Now I have to learn how to draw middle eastern clothes! ^^
But the point is, the ethnic touches are really nice, and I sure appreciate them. So I assume with a name like Mikoto, she is either Japanese or of Japanese decent.actually that's always been sort of a big bug of mine--when these little darlings throw Japanese names onto their characters without even realizing that the reason the characters in the anime they watch and got the idea from, the reason they have Japanese names is because the characters are almost always Japanese. Kinda like how Akaidalia named herself something Japanese despite being polish. genious move, huh? It just makes logical sense that your character would use a Japanese name if they were themselves Japanese, or decendent of Japanese, or adopted by a Japanese family, or at least lived in a world were Japanese names are the norm and everyone has one. but more often than not, the thinking I see is simply boiled down to "I saw it on an anime and no other thought more than that was needed!" it uh...kinda bugs me

Oh no way. TBH, I was kinda worried about giving her a Japanese name out of worry that "oh she's a Sonic fc with Japanese name, they don't exist." Or something like that. But I'm gonna have to go for Japanese descent with her and yes, in this AU there are different races among Mobians. And she's Amethyst's mentor and friend, who helped her learn how to survive in the forest and live off the land. Personally, those people who revolve their lives around anime and all things Japanese ruin it for the many.

Thank you! But i thought it was time to have a proper naga character, since the one youre thinking of is more or a lizard without legs than an actual snake.
It was supposed to be something of a yaoi-ish adventure-love story. there's emotional barriers, a harem, a crazy old vizier who turns out to have prophetic foresight, misunderstandings, the mutual feeling of not being wanted by their own families, and a few surprises. Turns out its not that easy to catch a python, because they are pretty damn strong. My Rock Python might have the face of a pretty bishi angel but he also has the body strength of four six foot tall wrestlers and the flexibility of a circus contortionist. So this courtship between these two is gonna be tricky.
Why cant a Japanese Sonic fc exist? I have a violet colored panda named Plum and she's Chinese. but My Au is in modern day earth, so there is a china. There are also mythical creatures in this AU. It would make since that Mikoto lives in nature and probably loves nature too. I did see her before and thought she was a sika deer--their a Japanese breed of deer. Cute looking too.
I know what you mean. IM not saying to not enjoy anime and manga and the great inspirations you could get from both, what I am saying is to put thought into your reasoning, and not have things put down just because either no reason or because you saw it on tv or in an anime.

Yes, I am thinking of the actual Naga, but your naga-looking character looks so much like one it makes me smile. ^^ My fascination even led me to an interesting naga but to tell you the character and the artist would mean you'll probably get sucked right in. That happened to me so it's my guilty pleasure.
Sounds like an interesting plot you have planned out. Yaoi stuff is not my cup of tea, but I would still love to see this rock python and I'm sure I'm gonna like that character like I do with your blue one. You know, this kind of talk reminds me of another comic on webtoon's that might be to your liking. I've seen adds on youtube about it but finding out that these characters are supposedly lovers... I wasn't incline to read it but the story looks fascinating. It's called Castle Swimmer. And yes, I did read it but it didn't focus on the love like I thought it would except in a few small romantic moments. In my opinion, it's kind of a shame that Siren is into guys because he's hot. Well, I've seen things around dA where yes Anime is all the rage and fans hype over it even to make characters who have nothing to do with Japan to have Japanese names and such so I was worried that by naming a Sonic fc with a Japanese name that some small-minded Sonic fan would attack me for it. I wasn't sure on the breed of deer but a Sika deer would be fitting. Thanks for the suggestion.
I know what you mean and to be honest, I had that tentativeness with Mikoto but wanted to try it out anyway and make her as I go. I've not once looked back and I wouldn't change a thing about her other than to make her fit the setting.
