There are few artists that I can consciously say influence me. Yoshitoshi Abe is one of them. I look up to his warm-painting-like athmosphere in his every art. but most of all, I look up to how he created Haibane Renmei. The story seemed so simple at a first glance, but it reveals deeper as it went on. The finale was really touching too.

For me, Haibane Renmei reflects Abe's soul. I read somewhere that it was influenced by his experience with a death of his senior. how beautiful and terrifying is that, barring your soul to the world to see? But it also means to let your soul free, not hiding everything.

I hope one day I can make a masterpiece like that.
