'Koi 001'Watercolour with squid ink outline (brush pen) on 8" x 10" watercolour paper.
I took my shiny new script brush for a test drive this afternoon. The brush is awesome but I'm a little less impressed with my watercolour paint and watercolour paper. Neither behaved how I expected, but then again I am inexperienced with this medium so it could be just me.
The watercolour portion of this painting was pretty blah on it's own, but right before I tossed it in the trash I decided to try adding some ink outlines. I dug through my old art supplies and found my squid ink brush pen. I had completely forgotten how magical it is!
Sadly, I messed up his little koi moustache (which sucks because I
koi and their little moustaches). Also, I intended for the koi to be a bit more orange...I dunno what happened there...Oh wells, live and learn.

You mentioned that you meant to have more orange in there, but it looks very fascinating as a mostly grey toned painting. Usually koi are painted so colorfully, so it's interesting to see one that's painted in rather drab colors. Much could be interpreted by this, if one looked to farther into it than you may have intended.
