Description This is my third illustration for my illustration major work. I illustrated three different aspects of traveling and journeys, inspired by different songs.

This illustration is of 20th Century Trip by Feeder. When I heard this song first I envisaged someone in an astronaut suit underwater, reaching towards the light at the surface. Online friends and I thought carefully about the song and what it could be about. It was written at the end of the 20th century (around 1994) and seeing as there were numerous predictions about the world going to end, and Y2K, as well as the closing of a century AND a millenium, it was a turnaround for the world. 2000 was supposed to herald great change and new technology, but it was also supposed to herald the end of the world. The sound of the song itself invokes a spacey, drifting, dissociated feeling and then a climax at the end - a feeling of a bright light before an abrupt shutdown. It is as if time itself has stopped.

So my illustration depicts a figure almost in limbo, and an out of body experience. This is a journey of the mind.

Watercolour and acrylics..I can't exactly draw people falling off the top of my head so I did use this photo by as a reference:

This is actually a little bigger, a bit more of the blue at the sides was cropped out because for some reason the image merged as a trapezium..., and the light at the centre is more white than yellow..what can I say..the scanner? It's rather old.
