This is one of my favorite Spongebob episodes of all time, besides the episode, "Chocolate with Nuts."

In the Spongebob episode of "Rock Bottom", what started off as a seemingly harmless trip to Glove World for the day, took a turn for the worst when Patrick spies a sign that says, "You are now leaving Bikini Bottom." In a matter of moments, Spongebob and Patrick find themselves stuck in the deep sea community of Rock Bottom. The inspiration for this picture came from the quote that Spongebob mentions in the episode which is displayed in the talk bubbles above. However I wanted to stretch this parody even further.

It goes without saying that when people think of seafaring cartoon, they think of Spongebob Squarepants. However, there is another sea related cartoon series from the early 1990's, that was a popular kids PC game at the time. This was "Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds." The game was an interactive puzzle solving game where main characters Freddi Fish and Luther go looking for the missing kelp seeds of Grandma Grouper. Originally when I started planing the picture out, I was just planning to do a fan art picture of Rock Bottom. However, the idea came to me that it'd be awesome if Spongebob got lost in the murky depths of Coral Cove. I will say though that it took forever to create the illusion of a murky night under the sea.

Side Notes:

This was quite a struggle for me, because I still am playing around with light sources and trying to get them somewhat. Also the original picture that I posted in 2011, made it difficult to make out what exactly I had drawn on my page. If anything was the most difficult for me, It would have to be creating the beam from the glove light. For what it's worth, I put in a full one-hundred percent. I hope it shows. Feel free to comment if you'd like, I wouldn't mind a well thought out critique.
