Would be cool if they made a spiritual successor with similar characters.

SFA is great, but DP looked even better only for the fact that Krystal was playable, and not some damsel in distress.

I thought that in this version they were cats? I could be wrong, though.

Technically you're both right. In concept art Sabre looked more feline. However, in the game he looked more lupine. I think it was just one more way to distinguish the two characters apart or perhaps they made a character design change after the published concept art. We don't really have too much lore to work with but it's possible that the planet Sabre and Krystal came from their sexes may have had different skull structures. I'm just speculating though. It could have very well have been a simple way to make Krystal cuter by making her face flatter/rounder than Sabre's or there may have been several different animal species. I don't ever recall seeing Randorn (a great wizard, Sabre's father in the game, one of the plot points of the original game) in any of the screenshots, but he too looked feline. That also brings up a good reason to change Sabre to look more lupine. Randorn adopted Krystal. I'm speculating again but if Sabre looks more lupine in the game then his father more than likely would have as well. Krystal was always more feline both in concept art and in the game so you aren't wrong there at all.

Maybe they weren't either lupine or feline, but a fictional race. We will never know for certain. In the end, the only thing that matters is that they both looked awesome.

Actually, axe that crap. I was going off what I remember but I'm pretty wrong. There's lore. Plenty.

It has character bios, story, and lots of stuff on Dinosaur Planet. Interesting tidbits is that there were two tribes the Wolven and the Vixen who were at war with each other. Randorn was a great warrior of the Wolven and had just lost his older son found a Vixen camp and in a blind rage murdered the lot of them. Among them were Krystal's father. After coming to his senses Randorn saw small footprints and followed them. Finding a small Vixen child he felt remorse for what he had done, named the child Krystal, and raised/trained her as his own all the while hiding his dark past.
So yeah Krystal was Vixen and I guess Rare decided to make the fox-like tribe a bit more cat-like to keep them being mixed up with the Wolven tribe. There you have it. I recommend visiting the page for more info. It's really neat.
Also, I forgot to say - this drawing is awesome cat people or not. The key is you kept the original characters in mind when you made it. Props!

Actually, the sheath is just right, considering the fact you can't see the bottom. Vikings had those kind of sheaths, actually. However they abandoned them after a while because of... accidents. Ya know... cutting yourself unintentionally by the tip of your blade can cause problems. For one you can't run very far 'cause your hurt... and sometimes not at all (dismemberment).

Hey, think nothin' of it. No matter what, there will always be a time when some imbecile points out what they think is a fuck-up. Then there'll always be people like me to disprove them. Art is art, no matter how you put it, and every single artist has their own unique and individual style, mixture, and mistakes. (Especially mistakes) As crazy as it sounds, there are always things we're either bad at drawing, forgot to finish, or are too hasty to finish. What I'm trying to say here is basically that it doesn't matter how you put it on the paper, it matters what message it sends, that overall is the most important part of all artwork combined.
As Vincet Van Gogh said, if you hear a voice inside your head that has the nerve tell you that you cannot draw something or you can't draw ANYTHING, silence the damn thing, draw anyway! That's what I did, and I got good at it. (However I still struggle with a computer, can never get the mouse right, isn't anything like a pencil and paper.)

Truly wise words my friend. Sometimes you feel like you can't do anything because you try to meet someone else's standards, when it only takes for you to keep doing what you love. I really appreciate that you took the time to share these words with me. Thank you man.
