It's too easy to overlook what happens down the street, in neighborhoods you seldom enter, in countries you wouldn't think of going to, as we hurdle towards a darkening future. It's too easy to get stuck in the mundane and not expand our perspective by educating ourselves about the past and other cultures. What is relevant, and important, to spend my time doing, so that in the end I have not lived just for myself, my close family and friends, my work and hobbies?
