Based on one of endings in the game that I consider to be the "Real Ending".

I love, how this whole situation can be interpreted in two ways, which don't necessarily contradict eachother:
1) Giygas grips Giegue tighter in attempt to drag him back into insanity, even going as far as trying to pull him by his eyes;
2) Niiue and Alinivar are slowly, but steadily pulling the Giegue out of the insanity, and the grip of Giygas are lost on his eyes among the first, causing what little sane remains in him to understand the whole implications of this situation and scream in fear and agony for help.
No matter the way, without Giegue inside, Giygas - pretty much pure insanity, insane enough to exist on its own - will be less of a threat. Yes, he'll still remain a very dangerous being, but with the last traces of saner personality within him gone, he'll become a complete almighty idiot without much possibilities to use his power in more meaningful ways.

Of course, once they extract him from Giygas / Magicant, Niiue remarks that Giygas is "still out there", so maybe our Applechaser heroes have another adventure before them. A CogDis sequel, perhaps?
