The photo is great and it's the car of my dreams.
In the US they charge about 95.000 US $ for it.
Over here in Sweden the retail price is 210.000 for the same car!!!
I guess I'll be driving my Skoda for a while longer LOL

Ugh huh Β Β Yes, you're right, not many got new ones over here.
On top of that the price of gas is currently 2.27 CAD / liter Β Β Β ....so, I'm
sticking with my stationwagon a bit longer lol.

Hahahaha yea right lol.
There's a price to be paid to be concidered the no. 1 most enviromentel friendly country in the world.
A little more than a year ago, when I visited the US for the first time, every time I filled the car up, I thought
It was Christmas LOL.Β
I said to the service guy, when he told me how much I owed for the gas, "are you sure" cuz it felt like a steal haha.
I work with a bunch of Canadian guys, and when they first got here, they couldn't believe how expensive everything was. We pay at least 7.35 CAD for a pint of bear....damn Β Β
Yea, I heard Honda is a popular car over there. It's a reliable and safe car. In the US every other car was a Honda.
Oh, I sure hope you didn't get hurt in the accident Β Β

No one got hurt, thank god.
Yes, you're right. We do have a lot of benefits because our lowest income tax is around 30%.
I believe the average working Swede makes around 58000 CAD a year, and 17400 CAD out of that goes to tax. On top of that, almost anything you buy is taxed with a 25% sales tax.
Some of our benefits are: free of charge schools. Even university studies are free. In fact, the goverment pays you every month to go to university. The books in university aren't covered though.
Every working Swede are granted 5 weeks payed vacation BY LAW!!! (if you work full time)
If you're employed by the state, like I am, you get six and a half weeks fully paid.
If and when you're becoming a parent, each parent can stay home from work for 240 days with up to 80% of their pay/ child. That means that if you get twins, it's 480 days for each parent.
Healthcare and medicine are free except for the first 300 CAD. Most employed are also covered by a health insurance paid be the company you work for, that takes care of additional expences.
Those are the most important benefits.
Hope the headlights are put into place and the stereo is working lol.
Have a great week

Thanks for the info! That's pretty interesting
I wish more countries would take up on the free schooling. So many people go in so much debt because of school and stay in debt for most of their lives.
And the vacation! wow, that would be lovely haha.
But I guess that would make paying a little more for gas worth it
Sorry for my late response! (been very busy)

Yes it's crazy to put young adults in debt first thing in life. Allthough interest rates are allmost zero on student loans over here, they are obligated to pay it back in 20 years, and with this volatile, unpredictable and rigged market, things can go south pretty fast. Since Swedish households are among the worlds most in debt ( we got negative central bank interest rates ), housing market prices skyrocketed the last ten years. If I remember correctly, Canadas housing market isn't doing to well either.
Bubles inflates every where these days.
You,re right, we do get a lot of bang for the buck with higher taxes over here. Still our system erodes, and as of now we're missing 200 000 nurses in the wellfare system due to aging population and the babyboomer generation retireing.Β
Don't worry about late reply. We reply when we can.
You have a great Sunday Β Β

I guess I can understand why they would go south pretty fast. But 20years is a long time to have to pay that back. Is that before interest and overdue? So they can pay it back at the end of the 20 years or just have 20 years in general to pay it? Here I think you can go a year after school without paying and then you have to be making payments, I am unsure how long you have to pay it back fully.
That's crazy, I didn't realize Swedes were so in debt, I thought America would be more so. Housing market here is crap, esp with the recent rescission (although we are just starting to come out of it)
200,000 nurses? jeez, and I take it not many Swedes are taking to go into healthcare? I guess even if they are it takes along time to go through that schooling(?)
Inflation is crazy. Just think back in 50s as far as I know $750 would get you a bran new fancy car, now that will get you a junker off the internet that barley runs.
Very sad

Sorry, I have to correct myself. The payback time is 25 years and you start paying when you finished school. The monthly amount is based on how much you earned the year prior to the current year. If you start to earn more money you pay back more every month, and if you earn less or loose your job or something, you pay less.
Because of our negative interest rate, cheep money has been flooding our sociaty. Until recently, banks basicly gave loans to buy a house or a car to anyone who asked. It's not that our national dept to the GDP is crazy high, as much as, Β its been very hard to get apartments over here for more than a decade and people bought houses and condoes instead. That caused housing prices to skyrocket. As usual, the banksters win
Lots of young familys took on massive housing loans. Everything looked nice and dandy for many years, and many forgot about when our house market crashed in the 1990, when interest rates for a short period of time soared to 500 %, or the last crash in -08, many were to young to remeber or not even born yet.
Soon were heading for higher interest rates and..it's so sad to see. I'm really hoping for a miracle to happen, but I'm afraid this summer is going to be uncertain for the world.
Yes, you're right, it's crazy. Since this monetary system (the FIAT money system) is based on debt and inflation by design, our currency will continue to loose in value.Β
Did you know that the US dollar lost 96,5 % in purchasing power since the year 1900??? That's what inflation does and it's craaazy. As you say, in the 50s, you could buy a bran new car for 750 bucks. You could also provide for a family of 4 on one sallary.
I'm spending as much time in nature as I possibly can to stay grounded and happy.
A bird and it's song can literally save my day
I heard about some revolutionary inventions in the energy field that possibly Β could change our world,so maybe things won't turn out as bad after all Β :smile:Β
You have a great week

Sorry for my really late reply. I sometimes find it hard to reply to such long things in a reasonable amount of time. I also get stumped on how to reply properly
Interesting how different countries deal with student loans and debt. Are you allowed to take another student loan out right away once you finish school?
I know here you don't have to pay it back for either 6months or a year and you can apply for another one as long as you do it before you've been out of school for six months.
That's crazy, gotta love the world we live in. Those poor kids will be screwed and there's nothing anyone can do, that is sad. Nut 500%? sheesh! That's steep and harsh lol
Yes, I hope a miracle does happen too. Unfortunately all we can do is move along and try the best we can to fix what we can (which is hardly anything).
I spend a lot of my time in nature as well, one of the only true escapes. Video games are but not as much as they use to be cause now a lot of them are pay to play or pay to win and that just reminds me of money - which is not a escape, lol. But books! books are another one of my escapes.
I'll have to look into the energy field, I have never heard about that. Hmmm, cool thanks
Have a day and week! Β

Don't worry about how to reply properly, what is properly anyway?
Just be yourself. That's what I appreciate the most.
Real and genuine people.
Our countries are a lot alike but there's a lot of difference too.
I really don't know the answer to your question about wether students are allowed to take on another loan right after finish school. All I know is , they better find a job or they'll be struggling hard for a great length of time.
It's nine o'clock in the morning here, and I just got back in after being out taking pictures on chicks (bird chicks) lol
I was watching over the chicks from a Great tit couple. They are learning how to fly and they keep ending up on the ground and can't get up onto the branches by them self yet, so I help them out. Meanwhile the Gulls tries to have them for breakfast and I won't allow that to happen lol. In the end the Gulls went tired of waiting for their meal, so they left. Chicks - 1 Β , Gulls - 0 lol.
Later I'm gonna pack my suitcase for a holliday trip to see an old friend in Stockholm over the next week.
The Midsummer Holliday is up next Friday, and that is one of the biggest events over the year in Sweden.
I'm bringing my fishing gear and my cameras of course hehe.
Like you say, nature is one of the only true escapes and it heals you. Although gaming provides escaping reality (holy crap, I've been stuck in Metal Gear swamp for years), it's not the same.
I really don't like pay to play and pay to win is really discusting. Gaming shouldn't be about money, but about skill and how dedicated you are. I stopped playing certain games because the unfairness of being able to buy your skills that otherwise would take years of dedicated gaming to achive.
Books are great although for the last decade or so I've been consumed by science magasines and such.
Although I can read everything on my pc, I rather hold a book, a paper or a magasine in my hands. Oh well, I'm an old guy lol.
I wish a relaxed weekend upon you Β Β
