Her face is beautiful beyond belief, I love the angle and the glowy parts on her cheeks and nose. Even though tear-stained, her eyes are also very pretty.

Kickass softness int he linework, its not something I see often. This looks like a still nabbed right from an animation. If only I could see something animated in this particular style and quality.

The technique you used, and how you go about choosing your colors...

Well, with this piece specifically, it was rather random. I did not stick to my normal routine as much.
I pretty much laid a dark background down as the base layer, ontop of that, I had my sketch/lineart layer (I pretty much just cleaned up the sketch instead of inking). The art layer was set to multiply. Below that and ontop of the dark BG, I had my colors. I am too anxious, so I never tend to make a "flats" layer like most people do. Being as I felt blue, I chose to stick with the blues. Blended a tone from the dark BG (which was a royalish color at first, and blended it into the skin tone and eventually came up with my palette.
The texture layer stays ontop of everything, and is normally set to "soft light". It gave the image a softer,lighter, saturated look than it normally was. (The image was very dark without the texture).
