Another year where I told myself I wasn't going to do it. I'm good, I said. Naw, I don't really feel the need. Last year brought a lot of outwardly closure. I hadn't felt anything creep up on me, but speaking with my therapist helped to give me some idea how to hash it all out. So, he instructed me to try to do something, but do it with the intention of not posting it, then go for there. So I did, and honestly? I really loved what came out of me when I started drawing for myself, not out of the obligation that you're expecting this. It came out colorful, joyful, peaceful, and while by NOW around the time the day rolled around...well, yeah, my body and subconscious prepared me for this and is on edge, but I'm thus far still accepting.

The loss of my Father in 2020, in a way, helped wash away the pain I felt with my sister. A new loss painting over an old one. While that alone brought it's issues, I was able to better reflect on the ones with my sister. I will ALWAYS be sad she isn't here, and I will definitely always miss her and want to honor her. I'm stuck in a spot where society doesn't exactly let me move on since her passing was apart of something much bigger than say...loss because of an illness. It was a massive attack on my country, and it'll be apart of history long before I am gone. I am not sure if that makes any sense to you, but I hope it does somehow.

As always, this year I plan to relax, honor my sister while attempting to spend time with family. Which isn't particularly easy (sorry fam). I want to thank you all for coming to check up on me. I know so many of you do. A lot of this I do for you in a way. It often feels like an obligation I have to do, knowing so many rush here today to see this. SO, while I did this for me, and my sister...it's also for you. Thank you for remembering this day. Thank you for honoring my sister.
