I drew this last summer but I gave up on it because I kept trying to draw Denmark into it but there never really was space for him.This drawing comes from a fic idea of mine set in a future where genetic engineering is used to create enhanced beings to be used as servants of those with money. The servants are known as 'guests' while their owners are known as 'hosts'. In the story, Matthew is a host but he breaks the mold by buying guests only to try to train them to be regular members of society and hopefully eventually free them. Gilbert and Lars (Nederlands) are two of the guests staying at his house. Guests are separated into classes based on animals so Lars is in the rabbit class while Gilbert's in the dog class (they don't actually have animal ears and tails, this is just to show their class in the drawing). Denmark was another of Matthew's guests but I'm not 100% which class he'd be in which made it harder to get him into this picture.
If you'd like to know more about this particular story idea of mine, just ask. I do hope to write it someday but I know it will require a lot of work and research to execute and I simply don't have the energy right now.

so Mattie's a host and his brother a guest? What determines that?

Basically, Arthur and Francis wanted children and didn't want to adopt so they wanted to have a son bio-engineered for them but at the time the technology could only engineer guests and so they decided to go through with it anyway and try to raise Al normally, keeping his status secret. But then the technology changed and they were able to create a normal child for them and that was Matt.

Guests are programmable and have a chip wired to their spinal cord that can be used to access their data and make changes. They're still human though.

Pretty much. And all guests are registered by the government and if they aren't, they're illegal and get repossessed, registered, and sold.

So are Ned Gil and Matthias registered? they're normal unless someone program's them not to be right?

They're registered and programmed because Matt bought them from others.

Oh okay and how would he teach them to be like normal people? Just treat them like normal or would he have to reprogram then?

Well his plan is mostly to treat them like people and teach them what is like to be a part of society but it's harder than that since they're made to do things for people. So his idea is to let them do the jobs the were made to but to pay them and reward them for it then progress from there.

Yeah, basically. He knows that they're progressing if they show interest in things. Guests aren't meant to have preferences or likes or wants or favourites, they're just supposed to do what they're told so if Ned were to say "I like tulips" then Matt knows things are working. They can have the illusion of likes which can be deceiving though because if a host tells a guest to like something then they will say that they do even if they're just told to like it.

I see so he's teaching them to have free will but what would happen if they were released back? Like would they continue with their independence and maybe pass off as hosts OAo or the government would reposes them and reprogram them or just trash them then Mattie could see them some day and try to say somethin and end up gettin in trouble OmO or maybe instead of being independent they're easily overwhelmed and taken advantage of and are either used or kill themselves because they don't want to ac as a slave or somethin like that either way this story is amazing

He tried to let one go once but that was without trying to teach them because he thought they already had free will (he'd never owned a guest before so he didn't know). They just went straight to the government to be sold again. Which is why he keeps them now but he's not sure what to do once they're rehabilitated.
