Now what's this all about, you may ask? this drawing may not be as random as you think xD

I recently did a big rewrite of Ace's article over at the Ratchet & Clank Wikia, because I thought it looked a bit empty there. And I added a lot of interesting information about Ace Hardlight's character, as well as his development.
Well, earlier this year when I was talking with Greg Baldwin about Ace (he's the CreatureBox artist who designed him) he told me that... they were thinking about making Ace a lombax, just like Ratchet. I shit you not.

Greg told me this months ago, after I thanked him for the drawing he did for me. But I only told a few friends about it. But now I decided to just spill the beans because, well, why not XD?

So now, I decide to doodle a little drawing of what Ace might have looked like as a lombax. It wasn't easy to think of a design, because lombaxes are completely different to Ace's kind. Lombaxes don't have hair, just fur on their heads (male ones anyway). And they have huge furry ears, big eyes, etc.
I ended up using Ace's colours for the fur (his blond hair and brown fur), because they're natural colours anyway. Lombaxes are also much smaller than Ace, but a lombax version of him would probably be around Angela's height, or taller. Still quite a lot smaller than verpi Ace though.
I also had no idea what to do with the visor, because of those damn lombax ears XD so I just did them like that. And I kept his DreadZone outfit the same. I also managed to make his jaw a bit long, to at least resemble the Ace we I all know and love.

It's kinda freaky though, to know that Ace could have been a lombax. And ironic, because of how Ace insults Ratchet for being a little furry runt and other insults in the final game but I like Ace as his own unique race. Which I ended up naming the verpardi. He's much cooler as he is, don't care what the fans think.
Although I do think Ace would have had more fans if he were a lombax, just because that's what most R&C fans care about in the series. Oh well. I'm glad Ace is his own kind. Just imagine the plot holes Insomniac would have to deal with in the future series if Ace remained one D:

And yeah, an interesting bit of info around Ace's development. Somehow, I knew there was more to the personal conflict between Ratchet and Ace. It wasn't explored much in the final game, but in my story, I did explore it more. I purposely made Ace a big personal threat to Ratchet, but I also made Ratchet have an effect on Ace's inner feelings as well. Ace was also threatened, not just Ratchet.
I even made their lives similar. How both were orphaned on a distant planet (which is canon anyway), as well as their race's plights. Lombaxes fleeing, Verpardi in hiding, and more.

God, this is the first drawing I've finished in weeks. Hopefully I'll have more done soon though...
