Beautiful IR shot . Did you use a R72 filter or is the camera you shot this with tweaked to shoot IR only?

Welcome my friend.

DimensionSeven [2007-06-09 09:52:27 +0000 UTC]

it's not only infrared, but you've probably used some ND filters too, right? 236 seconds is waaay to much at ISO200 and 5.6 for a simple IR filter. Or was this shot at night?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LutherBash In reply to DimensionSeven [2007-06-10 15:45:41 +0000 UTC]

Shot in daylight and i've used a polarizer too; the IR's with the D200 are very long anyways not like with the D70, has to to with the IR sensitivity i guess.
Thanks fot the fav!

DimensionSeven In reply to LutherBash [2007-06-10 15:49:40 +0000 UTC]

I know, I use a D80 that has the same sensor and same hotmirror. And I get properly exposed shots at 30 sec most of the time.
It must be the polarizer then.

LutherBash In reply to DimensionSeven [2007-06-10 15:54:56 +0000 UTC]

Even without the polarizer which only takes away about 2 EV steps and these settings i never made an IR shorter than 3 mins with that camera.

You should let your camera checked, I suspect it's faulty. D200 and D80 have strong hotmirrors, that's true, but not THIS strong.
Check this - [link] ISO100, f5.6, 30sec. Plain D200. The same goes for my D80.
3 minutes is insane, you didn't use f22 or so...

I don't know, i have no problems with the cam, everybody complains about the long infrared exposure times, maybe the used filter and the amount of light matters too.

I like the picture...but what's with the title?

Is this an IR shot?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LutherBash In reply to Ashenden [2007-06-14 00:20:51 +0000 UTC]

It's an IR long exposure, the title felt right for me.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ashenden In reply to LutherBash [2007-06-14 12:55:36 +0000 UTC]

Can you tell me why or is it rude of me to ask?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LutherBash In reply to Ashenden [2007-06-23 10:40:08 +0000 UTC]

Hard to tell, maybe it came from the subconscious. At first it was only a working title, but now it's the title for me. I don't want to analyze it, all i can say is, that shooting trees for me is making portraits, capturing faces or characters and in this case i saw a Tiger somehow.. maybe this sounds stupid.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ashenden In reply to LutherBash [2007-06-23 10:41:57 +0000 UTC]

Actually, it doesn't sound stupid at all. I often see patterns too, where others don't see them
