CHARACTER INFORMATION
Personality:
Ambitious + Charitable + Creative + Altruistic
Obstinate – Vindictive – Unforgiving - Impulsive
Morris struggles with preserving tradition versus embracing modernity. The aspirations of his family and community conflict with the expectations of contemporary society, and attempting to meet both half way normally results in disappointing both ends. It becomes very easy to manipulate Morris in this fashion, promising salvation in exchange for compliance, but he isn’t witless to these mind games. Anyone caught toying with his insecurities can be met with vindictive impulsiveness. These also happen to be instances where Morris is at his most creative, finding a way to uphold his values while rebelling against what he knows.
Even if he doesn’t do well in large crowds, he does have a strong sense of community. Although he finds it quite rewarding to give back what he has in excess, it stems from an internal debt he feels to those who helped him to get to where he is now. This unforgiving sense of obligation can have him downplaying his own misfortunes and doubting his own abilities.
Externally, Morris is an impressionable man who appears friendly and amicable. There’s a stern quality to him in the way he speaks but his generally good upbringing has him believing people are naturally good despite their lapses in judgement.
“Morris Ginsberg, novice detective, we’ll be working together starting today.”

History:
tl;dr
Morris’s life is marked with episodes of impulsiveness that drive him to the next aspiration. Although he can normally rise above the circumstances, the challenges that befall him grow in complexity as his understanding of the world expands. Grows stagnant as he is unable to decide whether he wants to double down on his beliefs or change them to better reflect the society he resides in.
Joins LQCC based on their ethical handling of anomalies.
childhood ✦
Morris’s parents were casualties of war. He was adopted from an orphanage by Joseph Ginsberg on the merits of their shared Jewish ancestry and lived a comfortable upper middle class upbringing in Brooklyn, New York.
A curious child that was often forgotten in light of the stronger personalities present, he is known for his endless questioning (from Joseph’s influence no doubt), and his ability to corral the younger children.
Aside from his tragic origins, his childhood was unremarkable.
✦ adolescence
His fairly average adolescence was marked with instances of unruliness that surprised his friends and teachers. Although normally well-behaved, a pattern of impulsiveness would emerge that ranged from odd but harmless to utterly notorious in its execution.
It is marked off as a rebellious teenage phase, but those who were particularly close to him are wary of this new development.
“Morris, please don’t do that thing where you almost ruin your life again.”
“What is a life ruined if I can’t live it the way I want?”
He begins to distance himself from his religion lest he smear their good reputation by association, but he remains vigilant in his actions.
adult ✦
A similar instance of disobedience occurred in college which had him dropping out from his polisci program in his second year. He abandoned his unfinished work with a simple resignation letter.2
Feeling that he had failed in some way, he does what he can to give back to the community and joins the military, to his father’s chagrin.
“The military? Morris, have you learned nothing?”
It stations him on the east coast of South America, patrolling the research facility at the ANM-05 crater. It was an enlightening experience for Morris who had never been exposed to such a wide variety of anomalies before. Eventually, he would be discharged from the military after sustaining a debilitating injury, but not before getting into another disagreement with a superior.3
Given his experience with anomalies, he finds work at an established anomaly firm that worked in conjunction with the city police to solve cases. Although he felt he might have finally found the perfect balance between helping the community and upholding his beliefs, it would be the uncouth handling of anomalies that would have Morris leaving the agency once more, but not before sending one final message to his superiors, in a very Morris-like fashion.4
In the period that followed, his distaste for authority barred him from applying to any large businesses and corporations, leading Morris to take on anomaly-involved cases as an individual to fund his mostly unsuccessful writing career.
✦ current
The jaded Morris could only tune out the headlining news about the up and coming detective agency that solved a string of cleverly thought-out museum heists.
“Good for him.”
It was only when Morris caught wind of the agency’s ethical statement did he reconsider a career in investigating anomalies.
He submits an application before the week is over. It was sabbath.
